Have any of you guys used a polish (like Meguiars plastX) to try to remove scratches from your Nav screen?

It's not the same plastic as headlights, so tread lightly with that kind of gritty polish. If the scratches are light surface scratches you can get away with car polish and hand buffing. You really don't want to mess up the digitizer if it's a touch screen. I messed up a pioneer radio in my Taco and learned the hard way using a compound and polish. Lol.

Just clean it good and put a protector on it. My brand new 4runner came with light scratches on the screen at 1 mile. Shitty screen and careless prep usually puts scratches on the screen before it even gets a window sticker. Live with the small imperfections rather than destroying your head unit. The screen protector hides most of the small scratches

What these guys said. A cheap $10 screen protector is your friend (mine cost $20 after I broke the first one during installation…). I didn’t have any scratches on my screen but glare & clarity were greatly improved with a simple piece of glass. No change in functionality, touchscreen sensitivity were unaffected.

There’s a thread somewhere in here with a link to Amazon you can find using the search function.

Has anyone removed a glass screen protector after several months? Does the screen get damaged at all?

I've removed it with no issues. The first one I installed started to have some issues on the edge. They come off just as easy as they do on a phone

We haven't removed one, but we put one on before we left the dealership when new. I have the 'edge thing' going on with a cell phone.

Do these screen protectors get messed up like the ones on a phone with moisture behind an area that slowly spreads?

I can’t put one nicely on my phone to save my life and have the ladies at the iPhone store do it. Then in six months it looks like garbage on my phones.

I sort of wish I had an old school push button radio too and would give up these screens.

All depends on which one and how is applied. I usually use my phone ones for the couple years i have the phone.

Lol, it's evolving technology daddio. Touch screens are here to stay and are future. Hi-fi and HD and any other 60s and 70s catch phrases i can throw in there. Lol.

I actually have it a thought of taking out my kenwood and putting back in my stock radio.

If it really bugs you, here's a video on how replace the glass. Depends on how far you want to dig into it.

Sorry, this is really kind of funny. Do you polish the tread side of your tires too? Its a pseudo-consumable item. It gets used. Nothing wrong with a little anal retentive cleaning, but man... I'm just scratching my head. I have way too may things to worry about than scratches on a touchscreen.
