Wool wax - How much should I buy?

I was going to have my underbody treated by a reputable local shop but they are having trouble sourcing materials for their proprietary blend so I've decided (for this year at least) to do a wool wax application myself.

For those of you that have done it, is 1 gallon enough?

I haven't had any luck finding places locally that sell it, so if I run out I'll have to wait another week to get more. At the same time I really don't want to buy a second gallon if I don't have to.

I bought seven cans last year, still have about 5 cans left for this year. So I used approximately 24 oz, as each can was 12oz.

Full disclosure: Last year was the first time I did undercoating and it turned out well, with the exception that I did not drop my skid plates and get up under that. I focused more on the frames behind the front wheels (thinking the salt would be pushed behind the wheel wells). Big mistake on my part. This year I will be dropping the plates and focusing on the front parts. Last years parts still look great so touch ups for them.

Yeah, I didn’t realize my mistake until I did my oil change after last winter. Luckily, I caught it early.

 

I did fluid films a few years back and used about 6 cans. Had it done professionally this year with Wool Wax. He said it's a couple gallons(ish) typically if you're being really thorough.

1 gal of woolwax is a little more that you need for one cover, using woolwax sprayer with air compressor. however for inside frame better use fluid film, as it flows better into smallest crevices, where woolwax stays thicker on all surfaces and do not smell terrible burning off exhaust and not dripping on pavement for couple of days, like fluid film.

 

I find adjusting the regulator on my compressor with the wand attached to my gun set just over 100 PSI distributes Wool Wax properly in the frame. I also place the gallon can and the the quart bottles for the spray gun in very warm water prior to application. I am normally around 85 PSI with the regular nozzle spraying the exterior portions. I use about 1 gallon per truck if I am doing the interior/exterior application. Tacoma takes a little less as it is easier and more open then the 4Runner.

Get this to help distribute out of the 1 gallon container. Works great.
