Just looking for some advice with my front diff drop. My cv boot ripped and I have a 3-3.5 inch lift so I’ve heard diff drops are supposed to help that. I tried installing the trail gear diff drop today and ran into a issue, when I dropped the diff down to fit the spacers in it was sitting on the a cross member. I’ve seen these done with other 3rd gens so I’m really confused how this is happening. I’ll include a picture with the spacers in to help explain what I’m trying to say.
    Thanks.

    3" is too much lift

Drop it down to 2", even a diff drop won't help (even though I think they're worthless)

See this is what it looks like without the diff drop in it still looks a little too close though. But I guess I’ve been wheeling it like that and hasn’t caused any problems so I don’t think I should be worried about it but still pretty sketch

    You're still lifted too high.

Your initial boot ripped because I'm guessing you were running the same cv axles before you lifted it, and after lifting it, they tore.

If they're OEM cv axles, you don't want to drive them for too long after as you can potentially expose the inners to the crap you drive in/on. If they're parts-store cv axles, then toss them as they're worthless.

Once you replace your cv boot, or cv axle if you didn't have an oem set, you'll run into rubbing again and they'll just tear again.

Drop your lift a bit. At 3" (or higher) I bet the ride is bad. Even if you say it isn't, it is compared to being on a 2" lift.

You've taken away droop with the much added preload, not to mention the preload takes away the ability to dampen.

My old 4Runner with King 2.5 ext coilovers, Durobump stops, and extended travel cv axles.

Rear was a little more with King 2.5 extended shocks, Durobump stops, Resz custom rear lower control arms, Sonoran steel panhard bar, and OME890 coils.

Only 2" of lift and that thing rode like a dream on washboard rodes, not to mention handled rocks like a champ -

Thanks. I recently bought this truck so don’t know a whole lot yet. But my main concern is how close my diff is to the cross member. Like it’s less than half an inch from the cross member

    That's how it is.

Just sucks when snow gets packed in those tight areas -
