Can I program the lock computer to open the drivers and passenger doors together?

It seems ridiculous that when I walk up to the vehicle, that the driver's door opens automatically, and that after I open the door, I need to hit the unlock button so that my wife can get into the passenger seat. So, is there a way to reprogram this, so that the passenger door opens at the same time as mine? or do I need to use the key fob to accomplish this? Interestingly if I open the rear hatch first, the passenger door is unlocked automatically.

Yes, toyota can do it. I have a copy of Techstream and if you want you can too. You will have to buy a tactrix cable and install the drivers for it as well.
The Techstream software is pretty handy.

There is a setting in the headset that will set it to unlock all doors when you touch the handle. I had to get the salesman to set it that way before I left the lot with it.

It depends on peoples needs. If you live in or find yourself traveling through a sketchy area of town, only unlocking the drivers door is a safety benefit when traveling alone.

Mine unlocks all 4 doors when I grab either driver passenger door smart handles. But when I use the key fob, it only unlocks the drivers door. I have 2016 Limited. Luckily I don’t like use my key fob.

There’s a way to set the unlock for all doors when you touch the driver or front passenger door. You do it with the remote but I don’t remember how. Do some YouTube checking. I recall it was easy.

You can hold down lock/unlock on your key fob until you hear a beep. This should toggle for single door or all doors. But this didn’t work for me.

You should be able to change it. Any customizable options are listed in the manual under customization.

An inexpensive way is with the Carista app but you have to purchase the dongle and use their free trial.

You can change it in the settings via the dashboard screen. No need to go the the dealer. Look through the menus.

Keep in mind that prior to 2020, 4Runners didn’t have these options on dashboard screen

Interesting. I have looked all through the different settings screens on our ‘21 and have not been able to find where to change that setting. Also checked the OM and missed it there too, I guess.

I have a 2021 SR5 and here is where the settings are.

    Press Menu button
    Press settings on screen
Scroll down to vehicle selection and press
Here you should have a choice of Lights, Doors, and Valet mode

    Reporting back:

    Abra cadabra and it worked!

Thanks, @Brodie. Followed your instructions and found the door lock menu and was able to customize to my preferences.

The menu is what threw me previously. It is a split screen menu and I didn’t realize the left side of the menu also had a “scroll down” second page where “vehicle” selection was presented.

Glad it worked for you. I don't know why Toyota put vehicle settings in that section, looks like it should be in the settings by the speedometer. It's hard to find and deciper in the manual even when you know where it is located. I think I found it in the Nav-Multimedia manual even thou mine doesn't have the Navigation feature.

I agree. It’s pretty buried in the menu.
