First time using Plasti-dip

Well I finally got enough nerve to try Plasti-dip on the badges of my 2000 SR5. And don't worry I made my mistakes. I did what everyone said and put on 7 coats of paint, making sure that all coats were pretty thin. One of my biggest mistakes was that I didn't get all the angles covered. I really didn't notice till all the tape was pulled off. All I can say is that make sure that you shoot top, bottom, left angle and right angle to cover all areas.
As you can tell I made sure I covered up about the whole rear of the vehicle just to make sure that there was no overspray. Unfortunately the tape pulled off some of the plasti-dip on the very first badge (as seen in the pic). All the rest came out pretty good. I'll probably redo the "Runner" badge on the right hand side of the tailgate. I'll probably leave all the rest alone. Again, not perfect, but I will say it's pretty easy to work with and if it doesn't come out to your liking just do it over again. A good project for first-timers in the "upgrade world". lol

 

Looks good...may be my next project on my 99 4runner. I really like the black.

 

I don't think you used enough newspaper and tape. LOL.....Sorry couldn't resist. It looks good but you are right, you have to hit it from all angles. When I have done this in the past I left a good three or four inches exposed around the emblems, I think it peels better. You got really close with the tape.

 

Yeah, I won't get quite as close with the tape next time. I think that's what caused the "boo-boo" on the one decal.
