I tried these bulbs in my 4Runner and was not impressed with the light output or the warm color. Plus they get really hot. In my opinion the 4Runner reverse light housing optics seem to focus the beam straight ahead with not much side illumination. I went back to my Lasfit LEDs, they are good enough for me.

But if you want more light there are threads here and in other forums about installing auxiliary reverse lights in the bumper, or the Meso Customs trailer hitch pod, or the Diode Dynamics Tail as Turn kit.

I did that mod on my Tacoma, it was marginally better.

If you want to drastically increase rear visibility with your stock tail light housing, look into the Diode Dynamics tails as turn. This will make your brake light your turn signal, and your turn signal an additional reverse light. Swap the turn signal bulb with a bright white bulb and bam, quad reverse lights. I've been running this setup for a few years and I love it.
