    Hey All,

Again, total NOOB here with electronics & lights. Sorry in advance.

I know there's some threads on here but they are a little older. I was wondering if anyone with a 22 Runner has put in an orange or amber DRL instead of that ugly yellow one? I've seen threads on here of an LED but those seem to flicker and can cause problems as they are too high voltage or something along those lines?

If so where did you get them and how are they doing?

You have a few plug and play options from VLEDs and Xenon Depot. They are essentially your high beams so probably no orange or amber available.

@whippersnapper02 I thought the stock Xenon lights were the high beams? I just want to replace the DRL bulb to something other than the stock yellow.

I'm not sure if things changed when the Toyota switched to LED low beams but normally the DTRLs are the high beams on the predator face headlights.

Xenon Depot LED with DRL driver work great if your DRLs are also high beams. But if your DRLs are only DRLS, if both low and high beams are in projector housing it might not be worth to spend for Xenon Depot LED. Better look for a cheaper option.

How can you tell what they are? I have a 22 SR5P with the stock headlight unit...

When you turn on highbeams while engine off if the DRL bulb at full brightness then that is the highbeam.

Inners are DTRL/high beam. Outers are parking lights. Maybe it changed for the LED headlights but I'm not sure. You can always try yours out. If it's the same, you would be giving yourself colored high beams unless they are switchback but I don't know of any switchback high beams.

Inner lights are DRL only on your ‘22. They currently run at 6V all the time instead of the pulsing between 12V and 0V. You can bridge the wires and run a new ground on the passenger side and then use any amber 9005 LED bulb from Amazon

Oh okay I see. So it's not as simple as buying an amber bulb and plugging it in?

Just a minor suggestion. Since I have the same setup (low beams & high beams inside projector & reflector bulb is just a drl) I have used the reflector area bulb for a 2nd high beam using a light bar type wire harness and a separate switch (not the most convenient) but nice to run along with other offroad lights. and I'm using 2 raptor style lights as DRLs on the grill.

Again don't get confused. Just the simple thing I wanted to share for ideas for you in future.

This is also an option, but as has been found out by other members, the reflector changed on the DRL only to not be a suitable high beam. Use whatever you want off-road, but it’s not a road legal option

It was just an internet photo. That's most likely a wrap that I wouldn't every ruin my vehicle with. :annoyed:

He's local to my area. Last I saw it's been a few years since he had that wrap removed.
