    They look so similar to me. Does anyone have any insight or first hand account of differences if any? A guy at the dealer (I know, the most trustworthy source) said it was the same color just renamed like the white.

    The paint codes are different, for what that's worth. 4W5 and 4X0

    I remember reading somewhere that Solar Octane had or had more metallic in the paint

    I saw the solar octane in person on a tundra in July. There is ton of metallic “sparkle” to it. My opinion was in the sun it looks a bright Orange like the general Lee from the dukes of Hazzard but with metallic. If it was cloudy out it look more red similar to inferno.

    Octane = eh.
    Solar = eh.
    Eh x Color = Boring

    Just not my bag. I just feel like Toyota used the last color on the color wheel for this gen and came up with this.

    Just so all of you know how colors are selected... it has ZERO to do with consumer feedback. This happens within 5 year feedback scales.

    visme.co/blog/pantone-color-of-the-year

    The Pantone Color Institute studies color trends throughout the year in order to decide on the next Pantone Color of the Year. They take into consideration all aspects of society: fashion, marketing, social media and even politics.

    I like the color but as a dude that plans to keep my 4R 20 plus years I feel like some of those colors while popular now will look outdated at some point.

    I feel like it will be similar to having the wood grain paneling in your basement now that went in the 1970s

    But that’s just my opinion and keeping a vehicle a very very long time

    That's why manufacturers make different colors. Life would be pretty boring if everyone drove the same vehicle in the same color.

    I really like it, but I wish some of that colour made its way into the cabin … like with Jeeps.

    Perfect as is.
    Actually in 20 year it will be opposite. Look at bring a trailer auction site. Cars like FJ's, s2000's, mr2's etc all get more $$$ and in some cases significantly more because of a unique color.

    That is super interesting. Thanks for sharing. Keeping a vehicle 20 years plus I just thought styles would change etal. After 20 years I won’t be worried about residual so much. But yeah very valid point for many

    The colors aren’t so bad. It’s the goofy names. They sound like names of cocktails.

    I'm not a fan of inferno, but I like solar, so there must be a difference haha!

    I think inferno is more orange, less metallic.

    I really like both. The inferno looks more like a burnt orange. Solar octane color shifts more depending on lighting. The magenta Pearl gives it a more pink/reddish look.

    I hear you. We have to appreciate each day.

    As my Uncle Joe used to say if you want to be doing something in life do it now. I wish it did not take so long for that advice to resonate with me.

    hahaha were probably neighbors! I live over by Eaglecrest High. I take parker to hampden. That way I can drive 65 mph at some point

    Thats SO - it's a nice color, but kinda 80s neon to me. I wonder about next year and if it’s available on other trims. Thats one thing the inferno OG color has - never been on other trims or years!

    I was an 80's kid. :D

    It's hard to judge from a picture. But, I just like how bright it is, even though I might not want it for myself.
