Couple Questions (trans gasket, and O2 sensor)

I have a 1988 4Runner I just bought and I am going through it repairing and getting maintenance up to date. I have a couple questions-

There is basically no exhaust from the down-pipe back (no cat, midpipe, muffler, O2 sensor, etc.) I have ordered all the parts to reconstruct the exhaust but the O2 sensor. I see one hanging near the middle of the vehicle that I would assume would be the upstream O2 (right before the cat) but I cannot find the downstream (after the cat)... is there one on the 1988 4runners? I don't see any mounting point in the new exhaust for a downstream O2 as well as no cable/connector for the truck for it to go to.

Also as you can see in the below photo, I have an oil leak coming from the trans. The picture is looking up on top of the trans where the shifters are mounted. Does anyone know the gaskets that need to be replaced in order to seal this up? I was going to replace the shifter collar (sloppy shifting) as well while I am in there.


The truck stumbles/hesitates/sputtering in every gear at certain fuel load/ throttle position when its warm too... it's like there is no power then all of a sudden vtec kicks in. Its really weird - but I will address that once I get the O2 sensor figured out and the new exhaust on. I haven't adjusted the TPS or changed anything spark/fuel related yet.

Come to find out non-California 1988's only had one upstream.

Still need to find those gaskets though!

 

You are right many 1996 and older vehicles only had the upstream oxygen sensor, no catalyst monitoring. I would check camelback toyota for that gasket, it may still be available, there are also a couple of bushings in there if I'm not mistaken, and they make a huge difference in how the shifter feels.
