Shrockworks sliders & rear bumper, Toytec 3/2 lift, ARB diff mod, 8 pod RGB LED's, RCI steel front skids, Big Sky katana rack, Reese roof rack, cool stickers.
Ascending tall, rocky steps, lol, wondering if I was going to pop over backwards like a turtle on its back. Had to give it a little send.

Definitely found my truck's limits. Big ding in my steel skid plate and bad scratches behind my driver's slider.

Hey, guys. Totally new here and new to overlanding/4 wheeling. I live in Elk Grove and I'm looking for a novice trail. Somewhere I can test out my rig but not to its limits. Any trails or areas near by you can recommend? Any info is much appreciated. Thank you, guys.

For sure! Go up Rattlesnake road up by Cisco Grove.

And honestly, go to Prairie City. Pay $5. Drive around. It's worth every penny.

I second icy. Prairie city is great for just shake downs. I go there and test mods I make and bbq in the picnic area haha. There are a lot of fire roads off mormon immigrant also that are good (not to pretty right now due to the fires)

Man, I drove out there one time with my daughter following in the FJ. I felt horrible, took like 45 to get there and she was fully depressed once we realized.

    Be better than me :(

I never knew anything like that existed. That is really awesome. I found the website about Prairie City, but I can't seem to find any directions. Do I take 50, 99, 80? I'd really love to check that place out. Looks like a place my daughter would absolutely love. Thank you so much for the responses. :oldglory:

I went to Hollister last weekend and did some exploring. In fact, I might have been responsible for the 5.0 earthquake this week. The park straddles the San Andreas fault. The eastern half of the park is on the North American plate, and the Western half is on the Pacific plate. The ground and the terrain is different between the two plates. I highly recommend this park for the acreage available to 4x4s and the variety of the terrain. And it is closer to me than the playground most of you have in the Sierras.

@1ino I did a lot of that type of thing further south - between Coulterville, Mariposa and further to Oakhurst, all around the border of Yosemite. So much to see there, including a couple of still functioning gold mines.

I have been around Coulterville but on my motorcycle, haven't done any offroad with 4Runner in that area, yet.

Back in my dirt biking days, that same region between Coulterville (Dogtown), Mariposa and Oakhurst, I covered heavily off road. I have been on a trail that ended up inside Yosemite - specifically coming out on the fairway of the Ahwahnee golf course! Lots of good riding up there.

Roger that! (I thought it was Ahwahnee...) Right in the middle of the fairway. Young and dumb, I rode the bike over to the general store nearby, bought myself a beverage and sat and consumed it. Duh, that would have been a Federal ticket!!

I’m heading out to Mammoth end of next week and there should be some snow down. Do any of you all have a path you like out by Mono lake? My wife wants to get some early AM pictures by the lake but she also has some health issues. So if I take her on a pucker path she might end me.

From Mammoth going north on 395 turn right, on Rt 120 East. Follow signs to South Tufa Area. Walk out and photo the tufa tower formations. You can also drive to Navy Beach but the views aren’t quite as nice.

Head back toward 395 and go to the Panum Crater where you can walk a trail up into the volcano and check out the massive pumice and obsidian deposits. And views of the lake and the other Mono craters.
