What’s your all time favorite mod and why?

Since my interior is beige I painted all my silver interior to match the paint outside. That really gave the interior a cool pop. I’m hardly done with my mods, but so far it’s a mod I’m pleased with. No real practical purpose but hey it’s the journey…

RRW wheels and Toyo AT3’s. The wheels were a “looks” upgrade and the tires were a performance upgrade. New suspension next. That will go in the performance category. After that, ceramic tint and then will work on the audio.

That ceramic is well worth the money. That was actually the first thing I did!

Lift / level to make the truck look "right". Wheels and tires. I also did ceramic - very happy with the results. My 2019 did not have much in the way of LEDs - so I did those in the interior and puddle lights.

I added an automatic on/off light inside the center console storage. Simple and functional mod.

    • replacement cross bars on stock rails - supports easy nuts and bolts attachment of various things I take on trips or bike outings
    • better sound system - make long road trips more enjoyable
    • window tint - I live in California and camp in the desert a lot (driving through hot-as-hell-ville to get there) and need to keep temps down
    • better tires - I'm not Johnny Broverlander but I do take my whole family way off the paved world when we camp. Bridgestones don't cut it.
    • LED interior lights - we car camp. i can see things now when fetching stuff after dark
    • Redarc tow controller - pulling campers to the desert and motorcycles to Laguna in safety
    • throttle mapper - i'm old and have sore joints. move my ankles less to get this pig moving
p.s. - just got back from a fall Sierra trip with my kids. lots of high mountain pass jeep trails! (this pic is from upper Blue Lake at around 8K feet)

    Nice!
This is a PGE camping site, correct?
Some campgrounds close for the winter, any problem getting reservations for this?

Do you have a link to the replacement cross bars that used?

    It is!

We didn't camp here, just came to hang out for the day and check it out. That's our pattern: pick an area and a camp spot in advance, scout all the adjacent areas while we're there, then make plans to come back to the good bits. This place was pretty nice. Also some real nice non-official camping in the area along creeks. lakes, mountains. No shortage.

It was the last day of the season on Sunday and the upper lake camping had already been closed.

We love the area and are going back.

    LFD Offroad.

Stainless. Simple. Top quality. Not boutique-y in design or price.

    https://lfdoffroad.com/collections/ruggedized-crossbars-5th-gen-4runner

Lots of threads here to check out with details.

I mounted four to the stock rails. The front has a built-in wind baffle. They are slotted such that I can attached just about anything in minutes using the bag of stainless carriage bolts I bought at the local fastener supply. Rails are low profile too for when nothing is mounted. No singing in wind.

About to pull the trigger on the LFD bars. Question, did the do any design changes so the wind faring is further from the roof? Saw terrifying pics from people's paint got rubbed away because of that. Thanks

Mine does not come close enough to the roof sheet metal to abraid it. I do not have the rubber protective strip that I've seen some use. Bars have been on for over year, heavily loaded on many long trips with no evident contact.

My favorite mods have been the OEM+ audio upgrade and then the Molle rear window panels with upper shelf. that shelf has been perfect for storing towels, dog toys, leashes, bowls, water, basically all things needed for my pooches and the side panels perfect to hang all the other things to keep the back clear for them.
