Whatever is cheapest around you or online. I use OEM, Wix, Fram, Federated (independent stores).

OP: You understand that using the counterfeit filters and cheapest oils will not extend life of your vehicle.
Current price of OEM filter ~$8, price one quart of OEM oil ~$10.
    Per year 10K miles it will be 2 oil changes: $10 x (7qt + 7qt) +$8 x 2 = $156 round up: $200 per year.
I just do not understand why owner of $50,000 4Runner would cheap on engine maintenance using inferior products.

The OP posted a link to OEM filters, they aren't counterfeit filters, no where in his post did he mention using fake or cheap filters, or oil for that matter, he simply asked if the price he was seeing are the going price for OEM filters!

OP yes Toyota OEM filters aren't that expensive, here's a link from a dealer in Virginia and their online price in less than $5 for a filter, but the link you posted has them at the normal price, and also Toyota filters have been tested and they are of very high quality, so yes do use the OEM filter is my recommendation!!

Got the OEM in bulk from dealer. That's the way. The OEM synthetic oil from the dealer is surprisingly cheap too under various model numbers

    I pay around $7/quart for Toyota 0w/20.

OEM filters at the dealer are around $5-6, cheaper online.

I recently had a good experience ordering online with Lewis Toyota Parts in Kansas, free shipping, which was nice on 7 quarts of gear oil.

I’d love to give toyota oil a try, but local dealers around here keep telling me there’s a “shortage”…for over a year now. I think they just dont want to stock it.

The OEM filters are hard to beat. The price is often cheaper than aftermarket options. I just never plan out my oil changes, so invariably I’ll decide to do
one on a sunday afternoon when the toyota dealer is closed. Lol

I recently got my new 2022 4runner TRD Pro, and have decided on TRD oil filters and Mobil 1 EP 0-20 oil. Yrs ago I ran regular Mobil 1 oil in my Tacoma 4.0L and discovered after awhile that EP is quite a bit quieter when run versus the regular M-1 oil of same weight. The TRD filters are much better constructed than oem standard filters way less chance of oil bypass.

Same. For this reason I typically stop by NAPA on my way home from work the day before and pick up a NAPA Gold filter, then whatever full syn is on rollback at Walmart.

Has anyone here purchased Toyota OW-20 oil off Amazon? I found a seller with lots of positive reviews (4.7/5.0) with 640 ratings. I tried getting it from my nearby dealer, but they don't offer it for sale for whatever reason.

I bought some from Amazon a few oil changes ago. It seemed legit, the containers and carton looked official, and the quart bottls were sealed, both the caps and the foil seals under them.

I bought it because I was hoping it would quiet the motor down a little bit, but it did not. Next oil change I went back to buying whatever full syn was on rollback at Walmart. I find that method both cheaper and more convenient.

I'm not going to go so far as to say oil is oil, but for an application like this I believe any good quality oil from a major brand will do just fine.

IMO, Dont use cheap stuff. You save 3 bucks on the filter and 4 bucks on oil (maybe). And for what? You never know. If you love ur vehicle, you want it to run for a long time, get some quality stuff. BUT, after all it is not what you buy but if you do it on time and dont let it be overdue. Look up the carcarenut online on YT. HE knows his stuff.

Nope as she is brand new, 400 miles or so. That partly explains why the OEM is so cheap.

Valvoline full synth is 30 bucks per 5 quarts in Walmart, or 6 bucks a quart. I doubt that Toyota makes their own oil so their brand is some other name brand rebranded. Valvoline and Mobil 1 are the best on the market, except for people that really need to spend more to be cool

There is no such thing as Toyota oil as it is merely rebranded Mobil. Not sure if they use the Ford trick of blending synth and regular to make the claim that this is the best, but full synth is better than the mix. Valvoline or Mobil 1 full synth is the best oil on the market

Correct, Toyota makes cars, not oil.

But they do sell oil made by exxon-mobil to toyota specifications sold under toyota branding. It’s supposed to have a bunch more moly in it or something like that.

When you say mobil 1 full synth is the best, it doesnt help much. Because they have a bunch of different formulations.

My favorite mobil 1 formulation so far has been their “Truck and SUV” formulation. It makes me feel slightly more “tough guy” inside (cuz I got truck oil). It’s smells more like oil should smell like…like zinc, and moly and stuff. Smells just like my motorcycle oils smelled like when I rode. Also smells like the old castrol I used to love. Mmmmm. It’s darker colored as well, and I could see it in the dipstick better.

Has anybody ever noticed the straight vanilla mobil1 0-20 looks like it beads off the dipstick sometimes after a fresh change?

I do not see the oil that you mentioned at the Mobil 1 page, but I did find it at Walmart. Thanks I will look into this

Why would you choose the 10,000 mile formula over the 20,000 mile extended performance type?

For Toyota filters it doesn't matter if it's just a paper filter, i.e, canister filter or enclosed in metal, i.e. a spin-on filter, they are all about the same price, they are so affordable and less expensive than all other top brand filters it's crazy to not use them, not to mention they are better quality than any other top brand filters!!

Seems to be true, but this is the first time that I have ever encountered a dealer part that is not more expensive. It might take me some time to accept this.

If you go to a dealer and buy the filter you will pay full price, which you showed in your OP, still cheaper than most leading filters at auto parts stores and Walmart, etc. if you order online you can most often get a marked down price but you have to pay shipping which I posted shortly after your OP, so it's probably best just to go to your local Toyota dealer.
