I sprayed fluid film under the 4R, maybe not as accurate I wanted but didn’t want any rust before the salt and snow.

My mechanic was going to do an oil change today but backed out at first because he thought I had an oil leak until I let him know it was FF. Boy that was alarming on first thought!

Be careful where you spray it as it confuses the mechanic. Anyone have this happen?

Judging from the pics I'm assuming you used fluid film black?

Let’s see some pics of “weathered” fluid film or wool wax!!! New is nice, but so is well used! Here’s my patina

My frame looks like yours Ryan new with the clear fluid film. A buddy suggested using a wax applicator pad to put on trailer hitch. I do that a lot in summer after a wash. Also another spot to get is the rivets on fuel door. I use a q tip. My buddies were rust in two months. I also hit the screws in the wheel wells and the frame area inside rear wheel wells

In the winter do you wash the undercarriage too or leave it alone due to having the fluid film?

So that didn't happen to me, but a couple years ago a co-worker bought a brand new Tacoma. Within the first week of purchasing it, he fluid filmed it. Shortly after, he switched the stock wheels out, and he told me the guy at the tire shop came out to tell him that he had a pretty good oil leak underneath, lol.

I’m sure experienced mechanics know, fluid film and other rust sprays aren’t new. Also not new is a mechanic telling you the sky is falling in order to make money on doing nothing or replacing good parts for no reason.

I don’t wash the underside during the winter. My thinking is, why chance the fluid film or like substance of washing off.
