Damn! So it's better to stay with stock suspension?

    Not in my opinion.

If you use stock springs and keep the set ring somewhere in the middle (not pre-load the spring too much) it should give a happy middle with killer looks to the 4Runner right?

I’m curious, to me it seems that vehicle weight would compress the springs the same regardless of where the spring seats are placed. So why would the ride get stiffer by selecting a higher position?

2” lift Bilstein 6112 w/600 lb coils front, 1.5” lift Eibach T13 coils rear, Bilstein 5100 rear shocks, TRD skidplate, TRD stainless catback w/black TRD side exhaust, TRD shifter handle, Weathertech bug deflector, 20% tint front, LED door bulbs, 285/70/17 Falken WP AT3, Energy Suspension front bumpstops, SSO Slimline Bumper w/ Badland Shackles, Durobumps 4.25” rear
You cant go wrong with a 5100 set up fromt and rear. If can squeeze out a little more $, go with 6112 in front with 600 lbs springs and Wheelers/Eibach T12 springs in rear with 5100 shocks. I LOVE how mine rides. Been to Ma and NC with the family and loaded for a weeks vacation and the ride was firm but smooth. My wife even complimented how much better the ride quality was over stock.

I don't think I understood too much what the 4x4shop was saying. They were saying about the force pushing the shocks / axle down. More preload is like having a different spring rate. I did not take too much to my brain. I got the point that lesser the pre-load less force it will push the shocks down on bumps. And this will change from shock to shock on valving how much it allows. Again, i could have misunderstood that point.

Sounds like it’s time for Tinkers Adventure to do another video addressing our questions.

Personally my thought is that at static state, the thrust vectors are unaffected by the position of the coil springs.

Any one know if there is a difference between front springs from a non-KDSS vehicle and a KDSS vehicle? Or the front springs is the same?

Just an update...the Bilstein 5100's front and rear is on the 4Runner. It now drives better on the smooth and uneven pavement over stock suspension. The way it drives now is what my Wife wanted in the first place. So thanks to all of the members that help me with this and their insight.

That is very nice you got what you need on the first try.
    Would love to hear more details like;

What height setting did you go in front?
    Stock UCA?
    I assume stock springs?
Any spacers used in rear to get any lift?
Do you have the alignment sheet?
Do you have height measurements (center of wheel to wheel well)?

I stayed with stock height with stock UCA and stock springs. No spacers on the rear. As far as alignment, I plan to getting it done on Thursday or Friday when I am off. It's the Wife's vehicle and she is short already so I didn't want to lift it. Plus, we don't off road. We're in Houston, TX and it's a concrete jungle out here. The most we'll probably do is jump curbs, drive through unpaved back wood roads, and the dirty beach water of Galveston, TX.

I thought Galveston beach water was getting cleaner. It's been a few years since I went there.

It was clean during the pandemic lockdown but now with refinery and ports back to normal operation, the water went back to being dirty.
