Entune and USB MP3’s

My buddy has a 2021 SR5 and he put a bunch of his music on a usb drive. When you push play… The head unit seems to play the first album (alphabetically) when you select USB as source (it even recognizes the brand of the drive as SanDisk).

The problem arises here… when you select “browse”, we get a message that says something like “loading content” that takes several seconds. And then it just stops and goes back to the regular audio screen.

Sometimes it’ll let us in to pick one album or artist but not always. And once we get one that works, it doesn’t work the next time to change to something else.

In short, it simply doesn’t work. We can’t just consistently click browse, find an album or artist, and play what we want. My 2018 works fine with the same usb drive. My friends 2021 does not work.

Anyone have any insight?
