1993 sr5 4runner with factory 22re engine. Does anyone know many of these were made with the 22re??

Toyota didn't limit the number of 22RE equipped second gens, but they are a rarity among 2nd gens because after the gas crunch of the 80's with everything being sold 4 cylinder, the V6 was considered a more desirable option. So most people opted for the V6, which we now know had major head gasket problems, leaving the 22RE the more sought after runner. If you have one with a 5 speed, you have a nice second gen rig to be sure.

 

Don’t know, they are rare and sure glad I snagged one in 1990.
