Storage and tire pressure

Does anyone store their 4R for extended periods? I am putting mine away for winter and was curious about tire pressure. This is my first vehicle with TPMS.

Historically on other vehicles I store for winter I put a few extra pounds of air pressure in to avoid flat spots. However, with the 4R I am debating doing anything because I don't want to mess up the TPMS.

Has anyone else dealt with any of this and storage?

 

I don't think the extra pressure will hurt the TPMS. It might light up the dashboard, but it should go back to normal when you start driving it again.

 

Sorry I have no clue on storing a car for winter. I only know they have like 50+psi at transport and store initially to prevent flat spots and drop it per door jam at the pre-delivery service.

But just curious to know when you store the 4Runner for winter what vehicle do you use for the winter?

@kmeeg I have an Accord for my everyday car that I will use in the winter and still keep the salt off.

I am probably a weird duck on here as I got my 4R to replace an old Explorer to tow my fishing boat with and for recreational use. For me it was the perfect size to fit in garage, great reputation, and will tow my boat.

I am in MI so the salt up here eats cars and trucks and plenty of 4Rs. So I try to just drive on nice days and crazy enough since I took delivery last June has not seen rain even. I had the frame fluid filmed last Sept and it still looks good since it’s not seen rain or snow.

I have under 900 miles on now also since I work from home and still have the accord. I hope to be here in 20 years with one of the best conditions for a 5th Gen with low miles . I have it all waxed up and covered up for winter in the garage with a full tank of gas and stabil and I will hook up a battery tender when gets colder.

My friends here tease me saying I am nuts for having a 4WD vehicle stored for winter but I want it to last and I enjoy keeping it looking good. So it will only get hand washed and waxed.

 

I would go to 50 psi and park on carpet squares. Just don't exceed max psi on sidewall. Did this with many vehicles and never had flat spots.

keeps the tires comfy, your wouldn't want to stand on concrete for months would ya.
