I am a paranoid driver this time of year in SE MI, usually 10 MPH under and constantly alert, but at 7:00 AM this morning a huge buck decided his time on Earth was over. Most of the collision shops are 2-3 months out, so this is a problem.

    Sorry to hear.

Looks like a young buck for all that damage. Crap.
They come out of nowhere. Fast.
Bounced one off an F150 with a brushguard once. Never saw it, really. Felt the thud and saw it in the mirror careening into the ditch.

Hope no one else was hurt.

Did you get the back straps, at least?

It was dark and there was no way I could be late for work, so I had to leave it. The turkey vultures were already working on it when I drove past it in the afternoon. The first picture is what worries me- the body mount bolt is bent and shifted, so the whole front end is cockeyed.

Sorry about your truck! Amazing how much damage can be caused by hitting a deer. I guess if i lived in an area that had deer, my first MOD would be a full bumper like the ARB

I would be worried that a bumper like that would transfer the energy to the frame. I'm guessing this will be $8-10K for repairs, not enough to total it but enough damage that the truck with never be them same.

I smoked this yearling last Oct. 55 mph. I had no time to even get my foot off the gas. Dead-center-between-the-headlights. Only damage was a bent license plate frame. Bumper paid for itself that day. That young deer was delish.

That sucks but good luck on 2 - 3 months.

2 - 3 months just for them to look at it then couple more months for parts. I've been without my Tundra for almost 6 months now.

I've hit a muley, a whitetail, and a wild pig. Pig damaged the lower fairing ('85 Toyota P/U 4WD) across the front and kept going across the field. Muley took the brunt on the bend of the bumper with no damage other than scratches, blood, and hair (Friend's F150 while we were hunting elk). Whitetail rolled onto the hood and pretty much totaled a rental car while I was going to training in W. VA.

Saw somebody hit a cow elk right at the Stanley Hotel just outside of Rocky Mountain National Park. Looked like a grenade went off=blew all the windows out but everybody was OK except for glass cuts.

The initial estimate as of yesterday is $8,000, but that is before the teardown.

Have you heard of Knudsen Bros in Westland MI? According to the Toyota dealer in Canton they did all the frame work on Tacomas for the recalled units in the area. They can highly recommended.

I called them about rustproofing my new 4R before I decided going the film route.

They seemed super cool and very flexible. Anyway thought I’d share

Sorry to see, and biggest bummer is the body shop delays in your area. I would certainly have the frame scanned (they put it on a frame rack and use lasers). I also hit an object, though much harder than a deer and with the tire itself, it transferred 5mph of energy through the steering rack, tie rods, shock mounts, and resulted in 19 points of variance on the frame scan. Insurance is paying for a brand new frame. In this whole debacle, I have learned from various sources that frames (even body on frame vehicles) aren't as strong as we all think they are, in the end, they are designed to absorb. Kinda scary, especially since I like to use it in the dirt time to time.
