The driver of the Nissan Quest decided to suddenly merge 3 lanes over without signaling while I had green light. Luckily I was able to break and minimize the overall damage. He tried blaming me, but was shocked when I told him I had a dash cam. Should have seen his face when I pointed to it .

Did you also play the “oh my back hurts”

Bummer, hate when it happens to a new vehicle.

Glad you had the cam! They should be taken to the woodshed for lying.

glad it wasn't worse - some people drive around like they are an extra in a mad max movie, and more often than not it's people who drive crappy minivans or cars the junkyard would turn away.

I’ve had shitheads lie on me before so I invested in the cam. Worth every penny and highly recommend having one. That way it’s not your word vs theirs!

Ya they just shut down the whole intersection where I had my fender bender. Every day somebody misses the turn lane and tries to cross over all of them.

Do you have a good recommendation for a dash cam?

Well I think some lady tried to cross over the huge curb to get to the left turn lanes after missing the entrance and tore off her oil pan. That’s what the tire guy said happened yesterday.

Yeah, I highly recommend getting one.
Sent it to them this morning and they agree that the other driver is 100% at fault.

I don't see it that way, there's no way for the OP to know the van was going to come across from the left turn lane to then make a right turn. Especially since there was no signal involved. If anything, I'd think the van was skipping the left turn to go straight. The driver of the van is 100% at fault for this.

Also this is exactly why I run dashcams in both my vehicles so you can avoid the he said she said BS.

I think if I wasn't paying attention, it would have resulted in me fully taking that van out. Luckily the insurance already agreed it was 100% the other drivers fault. Thank you for your input tho!

I have no idea of what they are trying to get to. Two turn lanes? It’s just a small townhouse development.

That sucks, hope it all works out for you! I need to get me a dash cam too!

I noticed that there was a Speed Limit sign that read 35mph earlier in the video (to the right of the red truck), and right before impact your readings on the camera showed you were going 40mph (not sure how accurate that reading is). Granted its only 5mph over the limit, but can that be held against you?

I agree that the van is 100% at fault, But i also think it could have been avoided if the 4runner had have tried breaking sooner

looks clear that the front of the van was already part way in the 4Runner lane, not knowing the exact ft but a few ft. Not likely traveling in faster than 30mph, i is still think the 4Runner could have hit the brakes and avoided this.

in that video you can clearly read the vans intention

No signal from the van and I had the green light in my lane. I assumed he was going to stay in lane 2 for a brief moment, but then he just crossed into my lane. I probably had 6-8 yards or so before I noticed and slammed on the breaks. It's always easy to judge when you're not the one behind the wheel and in that moment.
