oof. Hopefully you dont have to wait too long? What part is resting on the ground? That scrub not enough to winch off of? Can you bury the spare and winch off of that?

High centered. We dug and tried max trax. Waiting for a recovery truck. My buddy blew his tire off and bent the rim and maybe the spindle

 

We are expecting 7:30. It's going to be a long night

Great looking car! What was all the damage?

 

None I can see.

 

We got stuck at 2:30, worked two hour no success. Carl of Arizona 4X4 Offroad Recovery got to us by 9:30 (he was hours from trailhead when we called.) He was there at 9:30 and we were out by 1:00.

Sorry to hear @Fltslr that you got stuck but happy to hear that you got out. Is this your first time getting stuck? If you are okay with sharing… how much is a recovery like this?

 

It was a grand. Worth every cent. Plus, since there was two vehicles, and he only charged for one rescue trip, we got to split the bill.

It was a really tough trail due to damage from the Monsoons. Several tricky rock gardens, deep off camber rocky or sandy drops into the creek, and bad washouts. The trail itself was mostly shelf road or driving down recently flooded washes and creeks. Literally the roughest I've ever tried. The recovery driver was genuinely impressed with how far we had went.

 

Sounds like quite the adventure! Not too bad on the price of the recovery considering you got to split the cost. Have you discovered any damage after getting pulled out?

It looks like that rear bumper did its job and may have payed for itself by avoiding body damage!

 

What was the recovery vehicle?

 

Did you attempt using the winch?

We used the winch to pull my buddy out after he blew off his tire, bent, and bent the spindle. There was nothing in front of strong enough and ground was rocky so using my dead man was a no go

Too late now, but learn how to use stakes for anchoring. If you had a couple pieces of 4-foot rebar and a good sledge to drive them into the ground you might have been able to pull yourself out. I used the trick in my yard once to anchor my Tacoma while I spread out the crunched radiator support bracket. I've since got cheapo rebar with flat round spacers welded on top to help my aim when driving them into the ground. Getting caught out in the local sand dunes by yourself (with no tree in site) would be very bad without that knowledge in your toolbox.

 

My wife and I figured that after my friend got stuck and I had to winch him out, we should have stopped, chilled in the air conditioning. Then we would broke out shovels and dug out the mini ravine opposite edge until it was rounded and there was fill in the whole. Blessed hindsight.
