Thanks for the info, it looks great. I’m thinking about upgrading my head unit but I HATE the aftermarket models that float or that occlude the vents. That looks super clean. Not only that though, it looks like it has all of the options that I would be looking for.

I completely agree. I do not like the floating unit or blocking vents. I wanted something that looked factory but gave me CarPlay. This does that and more. Everything is clean and simple. The harness is plug and play with really good quality.

Lamin-x install. New lights seemed overkill for me so the film was the way to go. I disassembled a clothes pin to press between the bezel and the lens, worked great.

Gotta say.... I'm kinda bummed that the Dasaita head doesn't seems to cover 2020+ models. I assume the 2018-2019 models are different than a 2021. Can anyone confirm?

    Underseat and footwell lighting...

Tied-in with the over-dash map lights, they fade on and off with the door switch on. They also turn on with the passenger side map light.

I can confirm, the surrounding frame is different. Scosche and Metra radio install kits do not work. Apparently, the vent/hazard light section is dimensionally off in addition to the different shape of the trim pieces on the radio side of the frame.

Thanks for the confirmation! I was hoping that just maybe it would still work somehow and someone had firsthand confirmation of that. Oh well... my wife thanks them for not making a unit for the 2021 yet. :rimshot:

I think the real bugger is how the frame comes around the radio and has the two variable potentiometer holes as part of the frame instead of as part of the radio unit.

I never thought I would say this, but I actually liked the old radio units better. The navigation and maintenance tracking system was far superior to this garbage they tried to pass off as an improvement.

Worse, with all of this tracking built into the car, it's creating a parasitic draw on my battery and their technicians are refusing to tell me what the miliamp draw should be for that big brother monitoring system.

I hope there's a way to disconnect the SOS and Insure Connect systems after my free trial 2 GB of data expires. Chances are that fuse is probably shared with the radio, maybe that's why they don't want aftermarket radio replacements yet, they want to sell you on services in order to track you.

It sounds like you haven't seen the DCM thread yet. It's some heavy reading if you aren't very technical but worth it if you want to cut Toyota data gathering out of the mix.

After much trial and error (mostly error) I have resigned from trying to recycle soap-gray water. Now only going to put non-soap water in the water tank for drinking. In this new trial, I scored a water filter system upgrade from NoDirtyWater.com (NOT an endorsement), and currently on Flash Sale (plus they gave me another 15% off for I do NOT know why but NOT complaining). The upgrade includes a coconut charcoal filter and the previous 0.2-micron filter. With the upgrade, reinstalled the drinking water faucet (and another try at a plant in Mom's and Pop's memory). On a different project, a shout out to Front Runner's customer service for honoring the damaged footwell water tank with a brand new one at NO cost to me. Thank you Front Runner!

Just getting ready for the Overlanding season (for me--Fall-Spring).

Thanks for the complement. NOT knowing how much you want to see I uploaded what I have from the rear driver side. First, I disassembled the interior, seats, doors, hatch, and liner, top to bottom and wall to wall from front to rear, to install sound deading and wool insulation. Then put it all back (or what I could remember) and using original anchor (or attachment) points I build a frame with 80/20 extrusion aluminum. The box in the rear driver side is cedar wood (aside it looks nice it's function is insect and rodent repellant--so far it works, except for mosquitos) hinged on the bottom with a piano hinge and closed at top with kid-proof magnet locks in two sections. The lid is peg board secured with velcro to keep it in place offroad yet easy to get off for access. The space is limited but I found a home for a few things: 100' extension cord 12/3, jack base, road guard vest x2, rope, car jump/battery booster, duct tape... At the end is are 12v outlet (cigarette, USB, and SAE) on 10 AWG wire for up to 30amp draw (i.e. portable air compressor). The top shelves I left open using bungee cord to keep things from falling out, and the bottoms are pegboard too. All those choices to keep the top weight at a minimum. Hope that helps.

Didn't find any pictures of the box doors open to show the insides or pictures of the front end. In the next few days I will upload those too as it shows how the 80/20 is secured and oriented from the floor in order to leave that door available for use, as the rear passenger door has limited use. Additionally, the rear driver door access is modified to deploy the bed frame. If you have any specific pictures or details feel free to ask. Again, hope that helps.

Addendum: Forgot to mention, the height of the box (and the entire build) is to accommodate a port-a-potty toilet under the bed. Second, the gap between the box and shelves above the box is to accommodate the slats for a full-size bed.
