    Hello.
The lock cylinder I ordered online did not fit.
    I have a 1998 4Runner with a tilt-steering wheel.
I received a 69057-35070 but I could not insert it into the cylinder housing.
Has this ever happened to anyone?

Attached is a picture which is self-explanatory.

POSSIBLE EXPLANATION: Maybe a lock cylinder for a 1989 - 1995 would fit?
POSSIBLE SUBSTITUTIONS: I am looking at an Evan-Fischer EVA2558311581 and a Dorman 924-786 but the problem with ordering either of these online is that the available pictures do not reveal the actual zero angle view I need to judge them as acceptable.

Look at the attached picture and you'll see what I mean. The protrusions, marked in red, make the 69057-35070 incompatible.

Your feedback and ideas are welcome.

    Lou

Is the replacement an OEM part? It definitely looks like it's for a different vehicle, or a different year.

    Thanks for responding.
    69057-35070 IS OEM.
You might have something there with me requiring a lock cylinder that would fit the previous year's 4Runner.

Sometimes they change a part in the middle of a production year, so it's definitely worth looking into.

I would think if that had been the case that the parts guy would have asked for your VIN number.

Yeah when I ordered 3rd Red Brake light from CARiD (for some reason it came W/White light from factory!) the connector was no where near what was the OEM. They gave me hard time but eventually did full refund. I believe the still have it up on their site claiming direct replacemento_O:facepalm::frustrated:

Who did you order it from? That new cylinder doesn't look like the right one for that part number.

If you didn't buy from a TOYOTA dealer, you got a fake or knockoff.

I LITERALLY HAVE THIS EXACT PART sitting on my desk. I am going to replace mine too. Sealed bag 69057-35070 and it looks like your OLD one. This was bought from McGeorge Toyota.

    Your new one is WRONG.

I replaced my 99 cylinder. Very simple job. Less the $30.00 if I recall. It was 2 yrs ago, but I’m fairly certain it was that same company. I didn’t use a Toy oem part. I now have 2 keys. 1 for door and 1 for ignition. But it was a simple job. They sent u the wrong part.
