Removed the hefty fab ladder and replaced with a gas can carrier and two wavian 5 gallon cans. Replaced the front 600# king springs with 650# bilsteins. Regeared to 4.88.

Buyer Beware: Detours of Maine tire carrier.

I also posted this in the 4Runner discussion board.

Just wanted to share my experience with this guy. I ordered back on 4 November 2021 with an estimated 12 week lead time…which was fine.

I sent a message around the 12 week mark to see if it was still on track and he said there was a delay in parts…ok that’s fine I understand.

I followed up every 3-4 weeks and he gave me excuse after excuse. Since March he has been giving me the runaround and last I heard from him was 23 June. I asked for a refund and now he doesn’t respond to any of my messages (as of yesterday 7 September).

I filed a complaint with my credit card company and luckily they refunded my money and are currently doing their investigation to take action.

    You’ve been warned…buyer beware.

Looks great! Are you able to use these as a step? Not necessarily to get in and out of the truck, but can you sneak your foot on there to gain access to the roof?

I'm a sucker for OEM+ and love how tight and clean these mount to the body, but would like to be able to stand on and reach reach the roof for washing/roof rack access.

I was thinking the same thing especially for my 5'4" bride getting in & out. I like that the running boards protect crap from getting kicked up from frt tires though.

Definitely not a step , they tuck close to the body . Maybe if one foot is on the tire and other is turned sideways . Nice thing is they are around $200 each and if you ever damage one you can just order one replacement. I had $1000 sliders on my FJ which where heavier and had a kick out to stand on but I just couldnt justify that price again .

Just completed a 13-day, 5000-mile trip with the wife and 8.5 month-old pup.

MN -> San Ramon & SF -> Lake Tahoe -> Yosemite -> MN

Going through 8+ miles of Wards Ferry Road was intimidating but fun.

Given all the elevation changes in Lake Tahoe and Yosemite, I'm glad I didn't get lazy and completed the brake pad and rotor replacement work before the trip (4R had 62K miles on the ODO before the trip). I also felt that the taller Cooper 255/75/17 tires are a better match with the transmission when going uphill than stock.

    TODOs:
Install new brake guide pins and clips as the Toyota OEM pad kit didn't come the hardware so I just buffed out the original ones
    Oil change aftere 5000 miles
    Interior cleaning and car wash
    Some PDR work

It was fun at night. There's so much room to move around in. I'm so used to sleeping in a tent that the yurt was my version of glam-ping.

It cooled down to about 70F plus I put a bucket of ice in front of a portable fan. I assumed it was going to be terribly hot in there during the day so we just stayed outdoors until 8:30pm.

Next time I want to experience it in winter weather.

Started my morning commute with some dash light surprises today. When I started it up, the check engine light and A-Trac indicators were on, and the Multi-Terrain indicator was flashing. I haven't touched either of these settings, so I'm confused about them - especially after a very normal afternoon drive home from work yesterday afternoon.

I read the code once I got to work and it showed a P0456 - Evaporative emission system leak. I made sure the gas cap was properly tightened, and that's all I've done so far.

Anyone encounter this before? Is there any reason all 3 of these would show up simultaneously, or is this just coincidence?

I reset the code, I'm just more concerned with the A-Trac and Multi-Terrain indicator lights being on at this point.

that is what I did. I removed the predator steps and replaced them with a pair of OEM rock rails. They are enough for what I do. I “tested “ them in Big Bend NP and SP and I am happy with the look and protection level.

Complete stab in the dark, wheel speed sensor.... Just look am make sure they didn't get jarred loose or anything. Lights up your dash like a Christmas tree if one goes out. Complete guess but it is free to look. Let us know what it is when you get it solved.

Had my new wheels/tires rebalanced for the third time this week to finally get rid of the steering wheel shimmy. Smooth driving now..

If anyone is curious, @Labrunner has a post in another thread about having to use finger plates (instead of the standard cone) when getting road force balanced. It worked for me.

Also had to trim my bumper because of rubbing when reversing to fast.

Where did you go to get this done? I just added armor and wheel spacers to my rig and it introduced the shimmy. I only have about 10k on my tires and it wasn't there before. I went and had an alignment done at a reputable place and they did make some adjustments but the shimmy is still there. My tires came from Discount and I'm wondering if I should expect them to have the finger plates. I'll have to call them to find out for sure, of course.

Discount Tire. The first DT didn't have finger plates, so they sent me to another store 10 miles away. Definitely call first, two of the DTs near me didn't have them, while the third did.
