What have you done to your 5th Gen 4Runner today?

They are LT265/70r17 load range E. From what I measured it looks like they come out a little under 31" when mounted on the 4Runner. Seems they run a bit small. As for balancing, the shop didn't really say and I forgot to ask for that info, but from what I gathered they balanced nicely with little weight.

Tread depth looks to be around 14-15/32.

 

Does anyone know of a company that makes a bracket to relocate the tow harness connection block?

 

Yeah, tell me about it. I just spent 1200 on an rci front skid and sliders and already second guessing decisions. Trying to control urges to buy other stuff with all these sales going on. All stuff I'll eventually end up doing which makes a sale like this hard to resist

 

I have never seen one mass manufactured. Only a few that others have made. Its something i ahve been working on for a few weeks. I drew it up, my fab guy (custom car world) is mocking one up. May make a run and see if there is any interest.

 

is your ham radio hard wired to the battery? where did you mount the antenna? thanks!

 

Honestly, I can't really tell. This rack is my only experience when it comes to roof racks.

 

I was going to hardwire it but decided to add it to my switch panel. I put the antenna center front of 4runner on top. Ran cable up front windshield molding.

 

Not today but last week washed it . This color looks so darn good! I'm really happy I held out 'till I found one.

 

Half way installed a three camera system, want to make sure it works before I go through the trouble of tucking in all of the wire. Also picked up the door step thing for when I'm not at home and need to access the roof. It folds up nicely.

 

Is that fatigue or built in stress relief??

 

No, I weigh 200lbs holds me fine and my son who tried it out as well. If I were to have something heavy in my hands it should help with flex.

 

Those are pretty cool. We have a cheapy from Amazon that folds up pretty flat and was under $20. Cheap but works well. The striker apparently is rated for a ton of pressure (for crash safety).

This thread is the most expensive one on here. For function, it has taught me I’ll be spending another $10K. For extras beyond function for things I’d like to have, that’s another $5-7K . I’ve already spent over $2K and have only had it 7 weeks

Gonna leave the skirts because those will eventually be removed so no reason to waste any Hyperdip. The new Hyperdip is really a big upgrade over the standard plastidip.

Ground clearance, Approach departure angles, fuel range, standard skid plates, rear lockers, weight balance (especially front not to have too much stress on tie rods, axles,etc..), standard wheel and tire options?

Lexus has been doing it far longer than the ole 4runner. It’s pretty silly you’d say it’s a “wannabe 4runner.” It’s a better vehicle.

Not true, Toyotas been around for 85 years, 4runners for 38, while Lexus GX line has only been around for 20.

Even worse the GXs are built on the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado platform.
