4 Runner.jpg Last week I traded in my old ride, a 06 Tacoma TRD Offroad access cab with 181,000 miles for a new 4Runner TRD Pro in white. Got Westin Outlaw side steps coming I am not a fan of the predator steps for offroad use, and Viper DS4+ security system with add-ons to install soon. Also got appt to 5 have BFG TA/KO-2 C range tires installed. Not a fan of the Nitto 4 plys.

    Congratulations..!!

I too sold my stock Nittos. They were not good for me as well. I like BFG KO2 Load C as a great all-rounder. I tried Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac this time and it was good for snow and ice on pavement over BFG KO2 & Falken Wildpeak AT3W (just fyi).

Love to learn more about Viper DS4+ security system, like how better it is vs stock security system & toyota security service in case of accident and vehicle locator service (I pay $8/month after free trial).

I wonder if you would consider sliders over Westin Outlaw side steps? I have RSG HREW steel flat sliders which are good as a step and few members have angled sliders that look better than my flat ones and better function offroad.

4 Runner.jpg The good thing about the DS4+ system is it integrates the oem fobs into the system too, so they work, and I bought the optional 2 way fob for intruder alerts up to 1 mile from vehicle. It runs off the obdII port. I also got DS4SU and D9756V, THTON6, etc, so got not only impact sensor but tilt sensor. I do believe it has a viper app also to integrate the phone into the alarm system. I already have the toyota app. which is handy. Will see how it all works out after installed.

As far as sliders I dont' really need them I do remote desert camping, not much rocks involved. I have my rhino 700 SXS to do the dirty work from camp. Wife uses the steps a lot since 5'2", and the outlaws are good ones for door ding prevention in parking lots, they stick out 5".

265/70/17 BFG TA/KO-2 C. august2014nevadanuggets.jpg I don't want to upset the mpg or power. I don't rock crawl so larger tires aren't needed, will show some Desert Pics after a trip, we nugget detect certain areas of Nevada. Its a fun hobby.

Nice, a hobby that pays off. Do you know if an awning can be mounted to the pro rack? Been looking online and YouTube with negative results.

I think it takes a full length rack for attaching a awning.

Maybe adding an attachment to current rack to extend it?

I am still old school with my awning, its a dark green 10X10 ft mesh very breathable I use in the desert, on a frame of knock down parts, 3/4" conduit, 4 way ends and can weights, it can survive 45 mph winds easy. Solid awnings cannot. northryepatchcamp.jpg

For some fabricator guy it might be possible to use oem rack somehow to attach an awning.

You may as well just go all the way with a full length rack, hanging awning and rooftop tent?? Full length racks make it easy to attach a awning to the side its wide.

Yes you can buy this for the Pro rack. I bought the mounts for my recovery boards and will probably get the awning mount next.

I don’t see why those mounts wouldn’t hold a longer awning esp in a calm 10-15 mph wind.

Congrats on the new rig. Looks great. I think there will be more than a few of us that will be glad they purchased one of the later model 5th Generations.
