So I've been feeling something in the rear. I think it's normal, but not 100%.

Whenever I drive up my STEEP driveway I go over the concrete curb (small bump) then go up the driveway, hit another bump, then level out driving into the garage. The rear end seems to shutter/delay (for lack of a better description) when I hit these small bumps.

Because I've never owned a 4x4 (it's a limited), I'm thinking the drivetrain is compensating power to the rear end?

    Driving flat surfaces, no problem.

Anyways... I'm at 94k and decided to change all of the fluids, the diffs, tranny and transfer case and have them look at everything. The fluids were due, and I wanted to see if it would make any difference..... It didn't. The tech also said...it drives like a 4runner should....eventhough he drove it 100 feet in the service bay.

Just as an FYI, the service advisors at the dealer I go to are useless. I asked them how much for the fluid change? They say we charge per service item. I'm like, no your not.... The tech is going to do all 4 flushes at the same time, so you'll give me a discount....right!?

Long story.....but, what was going to be $560 came to $320 all in. Not because the service advisors give a crap, but the tech specified time spent per job.

The pic is just for fun!

Fingers crossed they didnt mess something up or use the wrong fluids not meant for 4RNR’s

I'm sure all the WS ATF is the same for the most part, just never thought I would see a Toyota dealer use Isuzu ATF tho.

I’m not understanding why they used Isuzu fluid, especially since most manufacturers are pretty picky about transmission fluid.

Also, I’m curious if you are the US, since they havent imported Isuzu’s here for a loooong time. I wonder how old that oil is.

Some interesting interpretations of the post.

I went to a Toyota dealership, not Isuzu. The pic "was for fun", like I mentioned in the post.

My point about the Toyota service advisors at my dealership is that they are dumb. Time and materials vs set pricing. Small shops understand this concept, these advisors didn't.

Luckily for me, the tech who worked on my car has a brain and went by time-and-materials, which is the $320 price.

The fluids needed replacing regardless, so I thought it was good a time as any to have it done.

I re-torqued the rear tires, and tightened everything on the tire carrier. I think that solved the issue, but will give it a few more days.
