So I just picked up my 2022 limited. I bought a kenwood dmx1057xr to replace the head unit. I know my model has the new 360 camera, cameras that look at the wheel turning and a front facing camera. Can all these be saved using the idatalink maestro?

Hey! I don’t know anything about that but would you be interested in selling the oem head unit?
    Thx

That would be a question to the idatalink company. I'm sure it is possible.

I was one of the first, if not the first, to install a complete aftermarket stereo in June of 2020 in my '20. I found the guys at Idata to be very, very helpful in working out new problems and glitches. As whipper says, give them a call.

Did you have to buy anything other than the head unit and the idatalink maestro? Do I need a dash kit?

Sadly I'm no closer to getting my Kenwood installed. I haven't found a shop willing to do it because they think it will mess the new toyota safety sense features.

Having a similar challenge trying to replace the horrible entune unit in my 2022 ORP. Problem is that there's no iDataLink Maestro that supports the 4Runner yet (just the Tacoma). Hopefully they'll release something soon and we can dump the OEM radios for something with a UI from this millennium.

Has anyone gotten an ETA from them? My contacts have been mostly "meh, we might get around to it, don't call us, we won't call you, just keep checking back"

Hi all, yes idatalink supports the new 4Runner. If your head units supports multiple video inputs or camera inputs, it should be fine. I don’t know why there is so much outdated information for this car. My pioneer crapped out again so I will be picking up a dmx1057xr this weekend.

For those that want to retain controls, purchase these:
You WILL loose the on menu options in the stock head unit so set those options to your liking before you take it out.

But all the security / safety sense features work fine. The only “compromise” is that the security warnings still beep, but do not mute your stereo, which I find to be a good thing lol.

Their website still doesn't list the 22, and my local shop says they can't flash it to make it work. Curious how you got it to.

Flash what, the maestro? What feature are you looking for exactly? My 21 flashes fine, I think you can get away with an earlier year if you have issues finding 22 for the maestro.

2014 Neglected by the previous owners 2020 is an abused former rental... 2023 New I've been buying above my pay grade ☹️
Are there any head units with HD Traffic that'll fit in the 2020-2022 "new" Toyota units?

I want to avoid dependencies on a cell phone or data.

I feel that the navigation head unit from my 2014 SR5 is superior to the "improved" 2020 TRD Off-Road head unit. Its stock amplifier handles transients much better, it also sounded like it had a much better amount of reserve power.

yep, my installer says you have to flash it to get the full set of vehicle telemetry and steering wheel controls. Plus, the 22 evidently has a different wiring harness than the 21, so that was another issue. I've contacted idatalink and they said it won't work properly with the 22, but don't have an eta on when they will have support for it. They have the Tacoma, but that's not the same.

i absolutely hate entune...horrible user interface....even if it had wireless CarPlay I'd still replace the factory head unit. I wish Toyota would just accept that while they're great automotive engineers, they are pretty bad at software and give us a standard stock head unit with modern features.
