White & silver owners, do you get this build up on the factory installed clear wrap protection and how the heck do you get it clean???

    Many thanks in advance!

Try a strong detergent like Dawn dish washing liquid for dirt and such. If that doesn’t work try a solvent like Coleman lantern fuel (white gas) on a rag. Carefully, not too much and don’t scrub too hard.

I have no idea what to use but I discussed this with my Xpel installer.

He has had several 4R owners come in and replaced the factory protective coatings due to issues. Apparently the plastics from factory are not that great.

Wish I could help more. Maybe call am Xpel installer in your area for advice?

It appears to me it is under the film, not on top.

Remove film, clean area, reapply new film.

No amount of scrubbing is going to clean the sticky area of clear film.

yeah i would find a good detail shop and have that stuff removed, cleaned and apply new. So far I like the Xpel but I am only a few months in.

They make pre-made kits for various sections of 4Runners as well

Does anyone know- is the OP’s film a port installed option? Or do they do that at the dealer upon receipt of vehicle?

I always just pull it. The rock chips you get in those locations tend to be less noticeable. Just me.

You can buy sheets of 3M clear ppf on Amazon for cheap. Cut your own new pieces and apply yourself. Flat areas shouldn’t be too difficult.
