Leveling 2022 4runner Pro

Hello,
I just got my 2022 TRD Pro and looking at leveling kits. I had a 2018 TRD premium with a 3" lift without all the proper components so it ended up starting to cost me. I would like to avoid this with the new truck and do it right this time. I just want to level the front end of my Pro. I have read mixed reviews about if I need to add upper control arms.

Do I need new upper control arms if I add spacers or spacers plus new springs? Any other components that are recommended to be replaced if I level the front end?

I would like to learn more about this first to get an idea the use case.

Also I see no difference between TRD Pro vs TRD Offroad when it comes to lift. I would think its the same list like longer shocks, springs based on the lift you want and weight you carry, UCA based on the shock travel and lift height, diff drop kit based on CV angle. Also optional based on the kit extended brake lines, longer end links for the sway bar, pan hard bar for perfect track, may be longer rear links, etc..

 

Thanks kmeeg. The Pro comes with an upgraded suspension and has Fox shocks on it already. I do not want to do a lift, I want to level the truck. Some of the leveling kits come with replacement springs too and some leveling kits just come with spacers. My goal is to level out the front end with the rear so it doesn't have the rake in the front.

 

Dri021 - you could look at Westcott Designs (Located in Arizona) Pre-Load collar kit. They have one for the TRD Pro (FOX suspension) specifically to level the front only. Does not remove any of the factory components other than the stock collar on the shock being replaced with a thicker solid Billet Aluminum collar in order to push the spring upwards. Retains factory suspension specs, no UCA replacements or adjustments needed.

 

Dri021 - be mindful if you level the front only and have any kind of decent weight in back, you will have a "nice" rear rake sag.

 

Thank you, I have read other threads that support this brand too. The rear is 2.25 inches above the front and I plan to add 2" on the front. It will only have the load when I have my dirt bike on it which is fine.

 

If I'm not mistaken Westcott Designs spacer for the front spring adds 2in lift will give the stock rear sag if only front is modified. Also Eibach spring has 1.6in front lift will also result in a stock rear sag I guess. If those 2 options to be used I guess you have to use both front and rear lift. My vote is keep TRD Pro as is without thinking to lift just the front. I could be wrong.

May be not budget friendly, but can use adjustable ride height suspension like ELKA 0-2in suspension (or similar with adjustable threads on the body) where you can adjust to exact mm. Again not recommended for someone who want to keep factory fox suspension. Suspension like ELKA DC are recommended for someone who want to upgrade stock Fox suspension imo.

I thought the trd pros sat level?

 

They have 1.2" of rake.

 

They don't make leveling kits for the Pro, you'll have to experiment with components of various lift kits to obtain a level. Aftermarket UCA's are only needed to get your alignment into spec with larger tires, they have nothing to do with the lift itself.

 

Then 1/4" spacers for a little rack, or 1/2" for level.

Huh? Tire size doesn't change your alignment specs.

 

What did you have before "without all the proper components"? Unless you want to do it right and replace shocks & UCA, seems like the westscott designs preload spacer is your best option.

 

I needed the extra caster that aftermarket UCA's provide to fit my tires, is that not classified as alignment?

 

The larger tires will not change your alignment specs. In this case, as an example, you could have opted to trim the fenders, cab mount chop etc. and maintain the same alignment specs. Yes, an aftermarket UCA can help with a tire clearance and alignment specs with a lifted vehicle. Aftermarket upper control arms are not intended for those only looking to fit larger tires. In most cases they are looking to do both, large tires with lift & proper alignment.

We've put a lot thought into developing our UCA to do just this and help avoid the need for a cab mount chop and excessive trimming.
