Agreed. They are supposed to be exclusive colors. They should stay exclusive. I have a Voodoo blue PRO and am glad that color wasn't shared. I'm waiting on a solar octane PRO for 2023, and being the last year for a 5th gen, even is solar octane is shared, it'll be in a different gen so it'll still be exclusive.

That's exactly why I was hoping '22 was the final 5th gen when I got it, lol.

But technically, voodoo blue was shared with the Hawaii editions

That's true. But the Waialua was a limited edition for 2019 and only available in Hawaii so I doubt you'd ever see one stateside. Very few people even know about that one.

I don't understand the exclusive color argument. When did Toyota ever say the Pro color was exclusive? Brands that use "exclusive" paint colors charge significantly more money and those colors are not part of the factory pallet that you can pick from, ever. If Toyota charged more money for the color, then offered it for free, I would understand the outrage.

I wouldn't call it outrage as much as a mild annoyance

Outrage was a bit too strong for sure. And I am only asking. I didn't even know there was such thing as a "Pro" color until I joined this forum. I saw Lunar, thought "oh wow, this is different, cool." I am in the car business and I haven't run into anybody who has heard of a specific Pro color before.

Toyota’s purchasing department probably overestimates the number of Pro’s that will be sold and doesn’t want the paint to go to waste.

Have you ever seen a new Pro sitting unsold on a lot, without a ridiculous markup? They sell as many as they make.

It's definitely just a thing within 4Runner circles. But it's definitely a thing. There's a reason it changes every year.

I think certain colors should be exclusive to the Pro models. It helps identify "those" people.

There appear to be a lot of used Lime Rush's for sale. Economics at play or already sick of that color?

You're in the car business and have never heard of the TRD PRO exclusive color before? Each year, TRD PRO models across the brand are only offered in 3 or 4 colors. They are always offered in black and white. Then, most years, also offered in one other standard 4Runner color. Then, there is an exclusive color that is only available on the PRO models for that year. For Tacoma, Sequoia, and Tundra, the exclusive color was then available the following year on other trims. For the 4Runner, that was not the case until recently, when Toyota started offering the exclusive colors on other trims the following year. The exclusive colors of Inferno, quicksand, Cavalry blue and Voodoo blue were never available on any other trims (except for voodoo blue on a Hawaii only Wiailua trim). Cement, lunar rock and Army green subsequently became available on other trims and Lime rush is supposedly going to be available in 2023 on other trims. Part of the allure of the PRO is that you're supposed to be able to get an exclusive color and many many dealers market it as such and often demand a premium. The PRO trim is a limited production trim to begin with and the exclusive color makes it more limited. I've had my voodoo blue PRO for three years now and have only seen 2 or 3 others in the entire three years. Count how many grey, black or white Wrangler Rubicons you see in a day. I probably see 20 a day. So there is something to be said for exclusivity.

Perhaps a little of both. Not a great color, in my opinion. But people may be just trying to cash in before the economy collapses or they're not too happy paying $5 a gallon for gas for a vehicle that gets pretty bad fuel mileage.

It's been a normal thing now. Besides, it's just a color but you have people putting the suspension on other models for years, the Pro Bro sucks and it's not Toyota's site so it could be incorrect.

I understand what they do with the new color each year. And I see how they are starting to use it more on other trims now. I have not heard Toyota ever use the word exclusive before. Just that people assume it would be. I have a car that has an exclusive color. It is called an exclusive color by the manufacturer, it costs way more, and it is never offered up as a standard color. That's what I understand as exclusive. I am asking where did Toyota promise this "exclusivity."

    Why does the Pro suck?

And sure they could be wrong, but they were right about Lime Rush last year, the first to say anything beyond speculation and have something of a sample.

IMO TRD Pro is just marketing strategy to make a little more profit than other trims. As far as I've seen TRD Pro seems to get TRD accessories like wheels, tires, roof rack, skids, etc after it land to USA. As for the colors I don't see anything special. I see those 'special' colors already in cheaper cars like Prius, Corolla, etc.. I do agree that TRD Pro is a great option for someone who lease the vehicles / keep it as is.

Again this is only my opinion and I'm sure it could be wrong to many in this forum. I hope its not a bad thing to express ideas?

I don't see any Pro colors on a Prius available on their website.

But ideas are great as long as you're not a dick about it. And you're not as far as I can tell.

They suck because it's more money for mediocre shocks.

Toyota has been moving the colors down the line. I would have loved Calvary or at least Cement/Lunar for my TRDP.

I think it got expensive because Fox have to put TRD Pro branding there? Also the price for labor and honoring the warranty? Not sure. But If you look at similar price regular brand shocks they are by far better than TRD Pro Fox but you have to pay labor or go through the pain for install (at least it was pretty hard for me and my friend installing).

You guys are funny. Pro specific colors are important to people who own Pros, maybe people who own other models, but no one, I mean none of the other 99.9% of the population cares or knows the difference.

As to Pros with Fox shocks, remember that supply chain issue we had? Still have? Yeah. Wonder why Toyota delayed the new body style 1 more year? Supply chain. Fox shocks? Supply chain. So either they sit idle, do nothing or make something work with what they can get. Anyone, and I mean anyone who thinks this 40th Anniversary rig was PLANNED is simply wrong. Stickers and some other nickel and dime crap for a 40th Anniversary? Please. I am positive it would have been something special in a 6th Gen, but since they couldn't supply all the parts and tooling for a new gen, they had to do something and that something is stickers. Oh and bronze bits and cool floor mats.
