I'm in the market for 2020 4R cat protection. I know there are many brands and would like to know which gives the best protection. I also see Millercat being offered on the Toyota dealers website... are there people using the Millercat brand here? Your thoughts and opinion ? Thanks

I'm pretty much sold on the Millercat, but there are 2 options... the stainless steel and aluminum. I know the stainless is harder, but will thieves take the time to saw the aluminum?

I have yet to see anybody report cat stolen after installing the thin aluminum one.

put yourself in the thief's shoes, it's 3 o'clock in the morning, your partner in crime is on the look out while you are underneath a truck parked on the driveway of a single family home, and you see there's an aluminum shield with security bolts. Are you seriously going to tell your partner "hey, let's cut open this shield, it'll take additional 5 mins at least and will get super loud, you down?"

or you'd be like, "fuck it", and move on?

And for this reason, I didn't even use the security bolts provided when installing the cross bars, they'll need to find the correct socket size and grab an impact wrench, that's the additional time and risk of getting caught, not worth it.

This is what I was saying on the other thread. These guys aren't high end jewel thieves. They're looking for easy targets. Of course they could still get it if they were determined. But, chances are, they'll just move along to the next vehicle.

Just speaking with MillercatCorp via email to ask if they have a test using a saw to see which one lasts longer... what's everyones' take/guess? Apparently the aluminum version is a little thicker than the stainless, but the stainless is still heavier...

Finally got mine on, I know it’s not stainless but it looks like a PIA and hopefully will help deter. My brother wrapped his in what Snickle might have referred to, I damn near felt out of my chair laughing when I saw his. Let’s just say it looks like Negan’s bat.

Here's mine, waiting for the missing piece. I opted for the stainless. It's not heavy.

It’s probably cheaper to stop watching Fox News.

For me it’s watching all the “ring” alerts in the neighborhood. Our buddy a couple blocks away had his daughter cat taken from a Prius two weeks ago. There is a group hitting Elk Grove right now, the video is crazy if the last one. Let me see if I can find it, friggin 3 dudes in daylight!

Edit: let’s see if this works

I am a member of Taco and 4Runner groups on FB, and I always see someone's cat get stolen ... $300 is cheaper than $2k+ and painful trips to the dealer . Even if my insurance will cover it, I still have to pay $500.
