Hello. Looking for ideas on leveling the trunk floor after folding down the back seats. Trying to find simple solutions for making the floor flush ahead of my first night in the 2021 4Runner. Not looking for DIY platforms.

Well if you don't want a DIY platform and you want it simple, your only option is to put shit in it to level it. I say that joking around, but yeah.

Seats will be angled no matter what you do unless you build a DYI platform.

Not much of a choice or throw a mattress back there and some pillows to flatten it out.

I used cardboard on my 60% sleeping side! Don't get no cheaper and easier than that if you are trying to buildup a level sleeping surface. Advantage of a simple platform is that one can store some items underneath the platform.

Agreed. Carpet padding is what I used. I had extra laying around unused already. Worked out ok, but it still require me to measure cut 6 or 7 pieces to size. So Im not sure if that’s considered a DIY, or simple, since I took about an hour to do.

Ultimately I made a much more useful, elegant, and permanent solution for about 80 bucks in materials and maybe 4 hours of DIY time by making a platform with plywood.

Money can make things pretty simple if that’s the main priority. There are some eye-wateringly expensive flooring options that give a nice flat floor, but I think that rear seat delete is necessary. If you can find an installer, it would be a no fuss/no muss solution that is very nice:

I’ve heard of people leveling the cargo floor by using rigid foam insulation board, in some combination of 1 or 2 inch thicknesses.

Did I see you have a BP-51 suspension? I'm pretty sure that was expensive.

Right, I meant 40" isn't wide enough for two people comfortably. Even small people, one of them gonna want to do the midnight starfish and then the other of them gonna get unceremoniously dumped onto the cargo floor in with the piss jug and sweat towels.

We all value things differently. At the end of the day make a platform and use a mattress. Its the best and cheapest way. Grab the Goose Gear if you want the BP-51 of platforms.

Deepsleep makes some nice mattresses, but they also make a “leveling kit” that goes under their mattresses to make it flat. I have one of the nice Luno air mattresses but even with that I feel the big bump under my back at night. I’m going to order just their leveling set up. I’ll let you know how it is.
