I have a 2021 SR5 Premium that I purchased this week. I’m have a hard time with the air conditioning. I know it’s hot right now (central Arkansas) but I feel like the floor vents in the front should be blowing harder and be able to keep my legs cool. As of now I’m sweating as I drive. Has anyone else had this issue or should I have something worked on?

I have the same year and model as you and I’ve found that I need to use the dash vents for the coldest air quickest. And I’m just north of Houston where it’s been over 102 all week. As a side note, I had the windows tinted and use a windshield cover, both of which help a lot in the time it takes to get the cab cool.

Have you checked the cabin air filter?

What kind of tint did you use? Did it help that much?

That was the first thing that I checked. I was hoping that was the issue, but unfortunately it was not!

I actually find the A/C in the 4runner to be quite amazing compared to the 2014 JGC. As Beachguy said, I use the vents since cool air falls and my legs don't get hot. Recently came back from SC where it was in the mid 90's and after the initial cool down I had it on lowest blower setting without the coolest temp setting and was fine unless I was also in the sun. I also have white and a gobi rack which I feel keeps the heat down

Also make sure to use recirculated air - sucks the humidity right out and helps a ton

I used SunTek CIR Series. It’s 40 on the front sides, 20 on the back sides and the rear. Meaning 60% and 80% blockage respectively. It helps more that words can describe.

I also got a pair of these to keep under the front seats. They completely eliminate the windshield moisture that causes fogging.

And I got this to put over the windshield.

You won’t believe how much difference using it will make in how quickly the AC cools. Folded up it fits between the passenger seat and the center console, down to the back of the floor. My wife has long legs and she doesn’t complain about it being in the way. I have used all kinds of windshield covers and this one is by far the best out there. Easy to deploy and fold back up, and very well made.

I think mine are certainly better vs my wife’s rav4. I have no complaints.
