New owner 2022 ORP --> BFG K02 tire pressure advice

What size are you running? Did you stick with stock size? I currently run at 38 psi.

 

As of now, these tires are perfect enough for me. Enough so, that I dont have enough reason to risk money on anything else when it comes time to replace.

I have almost 30,000 miles on mine so far. Nice off-road in mixed conditions and terrain, as far as this amateur is concerned.

Wearing well. A bit louder than when new on the road at speed, but it’s not obnoxious to me, and it’s fitting with the 4runner character. They still have that nice tacky sound when rolling through the neighborhood.

However, if they start acting up in the next 30,000 miles, Im kicking them to the curb lol

 

Stock size, C load

Everybody has their favorite tire they will defend into the ground. No respected shop in my area of CO will endorse the K02 because of it's performance decline as of late. My experience isn't the exception in my area, it's a downward trend that's been happening for years now.

I have wildpeaks now, they're fantastic. But I will continue to recommend nitto, toyo and the kenda klever to all offroad enthusiasts. Although the K02 was a great tire in the past, there are many better options now.

 

I have 285/70/17 KO2’s and run them with 36 up front and 38ish rear. Ride is plush. I’ve been rotating / re-balancing them about every 3500. I did have some balancing issues in the beginning on the fronts but the rotating / balancing seems to have taken care of the issue. Important to stay on top of that with KO2’s

42 PSI / Nitrogen, Period.

Not that Im looking, but what is the closest AT equivalent in the Kenda’s. The Klevers?

Wildpeaks are heavy as fuck. But, I hear good things otherwise.

I don't even have KO2's anymore, so I'm not worried about defending them.

I just know people who have good luck with them. And, I've seen the treadwear first hand when mine retained 80% of their tread after 29K miles.

Better options doesn't make them bad. It just means the competition caught up.

 

I'm not defending shit but I will tell you that the RT is a hybrid AT/MT, great in the snow, wears well, durable, competitively priced. The folks I know say it's great tire for the terrain around here.

 

Jason from TW uses the Klevers. He seems to really like them.

 

I know a guy running them and very happy with them. I might look into a hybrid for my next set, so these might be on the list.

 

They're a great option, seen them ran on a few rigs from 2 door Jeeps to land yacht FJ80's.

 

I saw those but didnt remember whose they were…they sure look the part.

I’m going to keep an eye on these. And research a bit into how tolerable they are for mundane commuting duties, since my 4runner is a multi purpose vehicle.

 

They're on the stiff side so better if you're loaded up, I wouldn't use them on a commuter personally.
