    What size can be ran on a stock ORP without any rubbing or modifications? Also, is there a favorite AT tire for year round? I’m in the south so snow is not much of an issue. Thanks!

    My preference would be the 255/75/17. A little taller, little narrower than the stock size.

    Keep in mind that even is stock size, an actual All Terrain is going to appear larger than the factory tires.

    My stock sized General ATX looks like a size up compared to the stock Bridgestones.

    Stock size 265/70R17 BFGoodrich KO2. I found these to be quieter on the street than the Goodyear Duratrac's. No rubbing issues

    Love my cooler discovery AT3’s 265/70R17. IMO, they look really aggressive, yet ride very smooth and no road noise at all.

    I concur that they look a size larger than stock tires.

    I’ve become a big fan of the Nitto Ridge Grapplers. They are classified as a hybrid between MT and AT. Very quite on the highway.

    Those are really nice! What mileage are they rated at out of curiosity since it’s a hybrid I assume it’s over 30k? Reminds me of the bfg k02 and I think they were 60k if I recall correctly.

    Old school Trd Pro Wheels, Nitto Ridge Grapplers, LFD roof bars.
    I can agree with this. Been running the Ridge Grapplers for 7k miles now. Very quiet on highway.

    I’ve been running my first pair of Grapplers for about 33k (still plenty of tread) and love them, except in the rain. I found out Discount was over-inflating them, so once I brought them back to factory specs it improved, but they still spin at times when it first rains. We’re in TX, so not an issue most of the time. I’m thinking about going to KO2s for the next pair of shoes.

    I also have cooper discovery at3 4s(285 70 17). I like them, deep tread(14/32), lightweight(45lbs), quiet, wear very well.

    If you want a stock sized tire, 255 75 17 is a great size with tons of options.

    In the tire fitment guide that @SlvrSlug kindly provided, this is a very important bit of information that many people fail to read.

    I will say that you can deviate from stock wheel specs, just expect to rub if you do.

    I didn’t know we could run 255’s on stock wheels/suspension! This is kind of exciting now.

    Why don’t more people run 255’s? Is there a downside?

    Are you referring to 255/80R17? If that's the case my main reason not interested is 255/80R17 only come in load E. My wife hated 275 Load E on road feel. She would probably kill me if I buy a Load E tire again.

    Minor reason, it did not like the look of it looking straight. Seems not matching to 4runner body style. Looks on old jeeps though.

    255/75s are actually a little taller than the stock tire, so they'll have more sidewall. I think people have a tendency to want to go wider on the 4R (which is clearly wrong, because it seems like everything rubs when you do that), a 255 75 is a bit narrower than the stock 265.

    255/75/17 is a stock size on a lot of Jeep Wranglers, so if one keeps an eye on Marketplace they come up for sale every once in a while. The Willy's Wranglers came with Firestone MT2 or BFG KM2s in that size, and the JK Wrangler Rubicon came with the first gen BFG KM that size.

    I've been watching Marketplace for set of the Firestones, the nice thing about them being off Wranglers is that they typically are sold in sets of five.

    Same with 285, actually. The JL Rubicon come stock with either KO2's, wild peak AT3W's, or wild peak MTs. You see these in sets of five too, when Rubicon owners are upgrading their "small" stock tires for 35s or 37s, lol. (Must be nice to be able to run a big tire!)

    I recently saw a set of five nearly new 285 KO2s for 800 bucks on Marketplace.

    Gladiator Rubicons came with the same tire selection and size, but I noticed that those seem to only be sold in sets of four, maybe because they don't bother changing the spare since it's located underneath.

    It's not hard to fit 285's.

    You just have to be mindful of a few things and do moderate mods.

    Don't go too crazy on offset. Stock wheel offsets (or closer to them) work best.

    Don't go crazy on wheel width. Stock wheel widths (or closer to them) work best.

    Don't go crazy on lift or if you do, get an aftermarket UCA. Higher caster numbers work best.

    Some vehicles will require the fender liner mod (easy). Pro's usually don't require this since they already get it at the port.
