    Just bought my first 1993 4Runner 3.4 v6

Any tips to look for gas gauge not working before I make the leap for the sending unit?

    thank you!

Check the electrical circuit first, Drivers side under back seat is the Location check the plug at the sender pull the plug off and Use the Meter to make sure that the Ground has full continuity (Brown Wire) the ground is a more common issue with the 90's 4Runners and Pickups if no ground it is easier to just install the new ground wire from the body there than to trace the entire thing out JUST DON'T Drill into the Fuel Tank if installing new wire! (we know we saw it done that way once)

The fact that it's a 3.4 might make it more difficult. That's not the factory motor in 1993. Depending on how good the swap is done it may be a royal pain in the ass to figure out.

I just took it as a 3.0 V6 because they look just like or very close to the 3.4 that came out in 1996 and more than once I have heard someone say it is a 3.4 when actually 3.0 V6

Are you sure it is a 3.4 and not the stock 3.0 V6?
