Hey, I have a 94 4runner and it has been idling super rough lately. I replaced the Idle air control module, the spark plug wires, ignition coils, and checked the Fuel pressure regulator. I’m pretty stuck and not sure where to go from here. Also the throttle is super stiff along with the brakes, I’m going to bleed the brakes but wondering if my stiff throttle/pedal has anything to do with it or if there are any fixes.

I did the fuel filter, how would I check the pvc valve? Thank you! It’s nice to finally post instead of search

Like how would I check that without having to take the intake off?

Go move the throttle by hand under the hood then check the pedal pivots. There's likely a little slop where the cable interfaces the pedal and you'll be able to tell if it moves freely -- otherwise disconnect the cable and check the pedal assy.

If both ENDS of the cable check out it's the cable itself causing your stiff throttle. NOW, this isn't your problem but it's damn annoying to drive regardless.

I'm no help on your actual problem but the stiff throttle cable is common on this era.

Thank you very much for that, once I get home I’m checking that as my first thing.

Also, on your throttle cable where it attaches to the arm that the accelerator pedal will toggle there is a rubber damper on the cable that tends to collapse with enough age. Once this happens you cannot get the throttle plate to go wide open when you floor it. Probably one of the biggest secrets as to why the 3VZ-E is saddled as the 3.SLOW.

To fix this rubber damper/bushing you can try using some tie wraps to hold it back into a more un collapsed shape. That has been working for me as of two years ago now!

Sounds like you may have more than one problem. If the brakes are hard and it's running rough, you may have a vacuum leak. Might look at the vacuum hose that goes to the brake booster/master cylinder.
