Hello everyone! Long time stalker of the forum, first time caller. Have a 2019 TRD ORP that I've been slowly building since I purchased new a few years ago - thanks for all of the ideas of how to throw away money! Want to finally get the suspension done this year and would like shop recommendations in the DC/MD/VA area. Have searched the forums but I am looking for someone who has experience with KDSS. Willing to travel to PA or NC too for a good shop.

Welcome from the center of the bourbon universe. I'm in KY so I can't help with finding you a shop, but if you need bourbon recommendations, well . . . I'm your man.

Thanks! This has been a great forum for info over the years - had a NC shop written down and can find it again if necessary. Was trying to find up-to-date recommendations because there was a great 4runner overland shop nearby that shut down during covid. Not sure how many others have fallen over the last couple of years.
Thanks for the welcome! I'm always up for a bourbon recommendation as well so feel free to throw them out if you've got them! The last batch I ran through was Jefferson's, Jefferson's Reserve, and Jefferson's Ocean.

Welcome to the forum. I can't help with a shop recommendation, but have watched quite a few videos on lifting a KDSS 4R. I was in the same place as you in 2020, looking for a shop to install my Eibach shocks, the ones I found were either way too expensive or booked for weeks out during COVID shutdown. I ended up installing my shocks at home in a day, since I also was off work.

This may be where I end up as well if I can't find a shop I'm confident in or prices are too high. I've done the low profile bumper and winch, roof rack, sliders, and modular panels myself so far but still a bit nervous about tackling the KDSS on my own. To open the valves or not open the valves? Disconnect or tie it up? Seem to be differing opinions on how to do it correctly :)

DO NOT disturb anything at the KDSS accumulator. There is nothing but heartache and dollars lost in your future if you do so. If you use the search function on this forum and spend some time (instead of money) reading about others experiences with suspension and lifts with KDSS, you will end up with a better understanding of the limitations with lift and / or leveling a KDSS equipped T4R.

Welcome! Let’s see a pic of your truck! :D I think @Thatbassguy has a KDSS truck on 34 or 35s. There are others on here who have DIYed it successfully. You can do it!

Welcome to the forum from Wisconsin!

Like @2Toys mentioned, it's best to leave the accumulator valves alone unless it's absolutely necessary. I would watch as many videos on YouTube as possible. I ended up disconnecting the front sway bar, but I believe it can be done without disconnecting as well.

Yeah, I will definitely do some research if I decide to do it myself. I've browsed a few threads so far, enough that I didn't want to try it unless I had to.
Thank you all for the guidance and votes of confidence!

There are so many bourbons/ryes out there that are good pours. If you're into wheated bourbons there is Larceny, Maker's 46. The wheated ones are generally softer and not as spicy as the rye based bourbons. I'm not a fan of the Wild Turkey 101 but the Russell's Reserve line is solid. The 10 year, Single Barrel and the 6 year old rye are all good, as well as the Kentucky Spirit and Rare Breed. The Beam line up has a number of good ones, including Baker's, Distillers Cut and others. The Old Forrester lineup has a number of good ones but I really like the 1910 and the BIB Rye.

If you have any specific ones that you want to know about just let me know. I've probably either had a pour or have a bottle. This is my current set up.

Here's a pic as it stands now...
    20220707_160611.jpg

All I really needed was a decent set of tires (which I still don't have). What I ended up with after countless hours on the forum...
    • Victory 4x4 Blitz aluminum low profile front bumper
    • Smittybilt 10k winch with synthetic cable
    • Gobi Stealth no-rise rack and ladder
    • RCI sliders
    • Rago panels and shelf
    • Center console and glovebox organizational stuff
    • Things that make door inserts deeper/more useful
    • Black/red cup holder and door inserts
    • Various other cosmetic crap
    Currently on order...
    • DOM hitch mounted swing out carrier (may have to cancel due to excessive production time and lack of communication but I hope not)
    Constantly in the cart...
    • CBI full skids (aluminum)
    • Victory 4x4 gas skid (aluminum)
    • Dobinsons 2/1 lift (will talk to CrikeyMike when I get ready to order to decide between twin tube and IMS, if I want to go ahead and change UCA's, if I want/need treaty oak kdss spacers)
    • Once OEM tires are done (soon), gonna try out the Cooper Discoverer Rugged Trek's in stock size XL load

My 2019 ORP has KDSS. It also has a lift / level installed. I have Bilstein Coilovers with 6112s from Toytec Lifts. Nothing required disconnecting to install - less than three inches in the front - probably more like two, and a little in the back, not more than two. I had Bilstein 5100s with stock springs in the back. I very rarely ride with anyone in the back seat. The wheels are 18 inch Fuel Blitz with 275/65R18 Nitto Ridge Grapplers. I am very happy with this setup. Plus the Bilstein 6112s in the front virtually eliminated the nose dive in the front while braking.

Thanks, you too! I think I'll start searching and reading about installing myself - maybe it won't be so bad afterall.

Nice selection! Visiting family over the holiday I had some Russels Reserve and 4 Rose's single barrel - not sure what else I tried but they have a stash almost as large as yours! Will keep your recommendations in mind when I select a new bottle or ten.

Unfortunately had to cancel my DOM order because I haven't heard from him in 4 months.

Good news, I ordered RCI skids today and wait with excitement. Anyone know what the factory front (not TRD) and gas tank skids weigh? I'd like to update my spreadsheet of weight added/removed for accurate numbers to decide on suspension upgrade (I know - nerd).

    So now on deck:
    • Swing out tire carrier. Leaning towards dirtcom now but may wait to see what SSO comes up with.
    • Dobinsons lift (shooting for around 2/1 with the weight I've added). Will probably order during black Friday sale
    • Thinking of going ahead with Dobinsons UCA's and bumping up to a 285/70. Eyeing up the geolandar g003 MT's
