Roof Box Clearance above antenna?

Just bought 2018 LTD and it did not come with crossbars. I plan on a roofbox, would there be clearance problems above the antenna? The OEM crossbars mount midway on the rails. If so, maybe raised Thule crossbars that mount around the rails would raise the box? Has anyone dealt with this?

 

I had to craft extra long “U” brackets for my model Thule and use small spacer blocks to clear the antenna. It’s only an inch that is needed so perhaps cross bars that sit above would work well instead of the factory ones I have.

 

I use a Thule MotionXT on the stock crossbars. The box *just* clears the shark fin, I mean it's like you could get a piece of paper in between. But several hundred, if not thousand or so miles with it on, and no problems.

 

Was driving up to Franconia Notch, NH on weekend and 4 Runner went by. (Maybe a forum member?) This would be next purchase. Any thoughts on which Thule box this was? A full length ski box is not needed. Just for gear and baggage. I see a full length rack however perhaps only clamp on Thule cross bars would work. Thanks for any suggestions and experience. I've searched internet and get that this is not a cheap setup (like the ebay knock offs) Long term purchase so I'd like to do this right. Thanks

 

Just back from 3000 mile drive from NH to Alabama and back. Roof system by Thule works great all around. No clearance issues. Went with smaller box as older Thule ski box too long and low. Good for skiis but not camping gear.

 

Beautiful color and so clean looking truck.

 

Any cargo box long enough to handle snowboards, let alone skis, doesn't work very well with the factory rack because it will hang over the back far enough to interfere with the tailgate opening. The shorter pods are great for smaller gear though. BTW, rugged crossbars for the factory rails like Victory and LFD make give you more fore and aft positioning than the stock crossbars, plus lower the pod a bit more making it easier to load.
