    Hey all,

I have a 2018 sr5p looking to build my audio system. I upgraded the front doors/dash with the powerbass drop ins. Ordered some for the rear doors as well. I have sub plans for the cargo area so I don't need the rear hatch speakers. However I tried to unplug them to run full power to the rear doors and got no sound. Is there a way to bypass them? I'm assuming it wouldn't be smart to run them with thepowerbass drop ins since they are different ohms.

I believe the rear hatch speakers are in parallel with the rear door speakers. If you unplug the hatch speakers, the series is broken and the door speakers will not get power. The wires that were disconnected in the hatch will need to be spliced together to complete the circuit. This worked on my '18 SR5P.

So I could get the metra speaker wire adapter and cut off the spade fitting and just crimp the positive and negative together?

Your reply reads like you're gonna connect the positive to the negative. Do not hook it up this way. Very bad and expensive juju. You will have to connect positive to positive and negative to negative.

    Apologies if I misunderstood.

Does the rear door speakers have 4 wires? I've read and got replies from people who just used the wire adapter and connected them together positive to negative.

The connector at each speaker has two pins. The rear door and rear hatch speakers on each side are wired in series through the factory harness. This is why jumping each hatch speaker enables the rear door speakers.

I don’t see the advantage of removing the hatch speakers however. I just think that most people are too cheap to upgrade both sets. I kind of like having overhead music when I’m loading and unloading stuff in the back also.
