I will just say that during the depth of Covid, I wished I lived in a red state.

Because I think most of us love the 4R as is, but I’m open to a hybrid.

Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
Because I'm not paying $48,000 for any vehicle. If a 4Runner goes for that much, I'm getting a $40,000 F150 EV or whatever more reasonable thing that might come along in the future. Maybe they'll bring the Suzuki Jimny to the US. I'd buy that. Heck, if Subaru goes EV which means NO MORE CVT then there's a good chance I'll go Subaru for an EV as long as they still have kickass AWD.

I have a much better idea. Let’s go back to the Rickshaw

This will surely keep the environmentalists happy. Absolutely no fuel needed and no batteries or lithium needed from China or Russia.

Plus we will boost employment for those pulling the Rickshaws imagine the number we would need. Lastly, look at the health benefits for all those newly employed people.

Here is one in use in Windsor Ontario across the river from Detroit. Looks like the Canadians are a step ahead of us in Windsor anyway.

I am not sure the horse is a good idea due to excess flatulence. Some were worried about that with cows so horses might be out.

The Jimny is the continuation of the Samurai. It ended in the US in 1995, but it lived on overseas.

It's still small and cheap and 4X4. I wanted one when I was going car shopping a couple years ago after my Jeep died. It was only then that I found out that they've been out of the US market since 1995. There were a couple still rolling around my area until about 5 years ago. I figured they were simply uncommon, not gone.

How is an F150 EV going to be that cheap?

Lol! I recently re-watched the fire dogs episode and laughed my ass off! I miss that show.

I remember renting those in the Caribbean, I think Aruba if I remember correctly.

Does Suzuki sell anything in the USA anymore car wise? I know outboards and motorcycles but have not seen any cars or SUVs

Surprised we haven't seen something like this on tap from Mitsubishi. They seem to be stuck in the wierd crossover vortex like nissan. And Suzuki shit the bed with the name Jimny. I'd rather learn how to spell Samurai correctly than people always telling me I spelled Jimmy wrong lol

Exactly! A plug in hybrid or PHEV hopefully with solid state batteries, not just a Hybrid for the 6th gen 4Runner. Best of both worlds with a gas/hybrid and EV drivetrain. EV used for local day to day driving and gas/hybrid if you need it or for trips.I might trade my 4runner in?.......nah. It's about the 5th gen reliability.

The new Grand Highlander PHEV is expected to be released later this year with the 2.4L TT/Hybrid Plug In and 4Runners might have the same power plants.

    "Toyota Grand Highlander PHEV range
Speaking to Green Car Reports in late 2021, Cooper Ericksen, VP – Product Planning & Strategy, Toyota Motor North America, explained the need to electrify large SUVs like the potential Grand Highlander and hinted at the targeted EV range. Reducing emissions of three-row SUVs and trucks will have a big impact on the environment, Ericksen said. That’s why the company sees a use-case for plug-in hybrid technology on larger vehicles."

Jeep (Rubicon and Grand Cherokee) released a bunch of PHEV's and Ford Explorer/Bronco have plans too.

It'd probably be called Samurai if they ever brought it to the US market. Or something else. I'd love to see a Toyota-rebranded Jimny for the US market if Suzuki is still unable to come back to the US.

just under 40K before destination. dual motor 4WD. four doors. the smaller battery option but still a heck of a deal. can add the equip to power your house etc for only a couple K, as I recall. That plus the bigger battery is something like 9K. so 50K total. but as of now Ford will sell that combo only to fleet customers.

PS this price does not count the $7500 tax credit. Some states have additional incentives for EV purchases, such as tax credits and waiving sales tax.

There’s absolutely no way dealers will sell that truck for anything close to MSRP. At least not until the deepest recession in U.S. history is fully in place and none of us has a dime to spare. Or worse.

people are buying these at msrp, but they had to preorder. there's a long list of people who want them. can't just walk into a dealer. regardless, not all dealers do markups. some won't go over msrp. the bigger issue is availability. thus the need to preorder. I'm going through that now. paying msrp but have to wait for months.

I'm surprised that the EV is going to be less expensive than the current version. With prices on everything going up, that's pretty impressive.

Didn't a lot of people pre-order the new bronco only to be told that they were going to have to pay extra once the dealership got their hands on them?

Ford is supposedly making the first buyer sign a do not sell agreement for one year on those trucks. Who knows if it will have any “teeth”

I agree about the dealers and markups. Heck I saw a new Bronco two months ago at a dealer lot with a price of $90k and it was hand written at the bottom.

There is now was one this green earth (pub intended) I would spend so much cash to buy a first model year pickup.

It is not like Ford has the most successful launches with the Mustang Mach E or the Bronco.
