Just purchased a 3rd gen 4runner and the p0441 code popped up today. I did a bit of research on the code and they pointed to the VSV valve, charcoal canister, and fuel cap.

I want to replace the VSV valve near the charcoal canister; however, I don't know where this canister is located. I've read on other forums and they indicated that the canister is located under the vehicle near the spare tire.

However, when I googled this part, this is what I see:
    https://www.yotatech.com/f12/evap-emisions-vapor-charcoal-canister-239095/#&gid=1&pid=1

This looks like the box under the hood located on the driver's side near the fender.

Are there 2 charcoal canisters on the truck?

It depends on your year. If it's an '01-02 it'll be in the rear underneath your spare. Has the same thing happen to me on my '01 and it was the vsv

Thanks for the reply. Toyota said here are multiple VSVs on the truck.

Which one did you replace? I'm thinking it's the one attached to the charcoal canister?

Yes. It was right off the VSV. It was about about a $40 part. It's in a tough spot because it's behind some of the hoses for the charcoal canister, took some extra patience!

This is the charcoal canister correct? This part is under the hood on the drivers side.

Then the center of the second photo is the vacuum switch valve?

I was at autozone and their part looks different than mine. One of the connections for the vacuum lines is facing the other direction.

The other parts online at 78.00. The part number I found was 2586075140.
