unfortunately, there's more $$ to be had in keeping people divided than unified. "us vs them" is an incredibly simple but powerfully motivating tribal viewpoint. religion does it. political parties do it. etc.

Understanding the fact that both sides’ agendas roll on the wheels of division is the first step to real liberty. Once “We the People” bind together to fight the status quo they will lose all of their power. They have brainwashed 90% of the country into believing that politics is so important that it has to be a part of every conversation, they choose where they live and who they call friend based on politics, it determines where they shop, who they date, where they go to college, where they go out to eat, and everybody who disagrees are stupid/retarded/unAmerican/etc and must be canceled/labeled/crushed. Our liberal and conservative neighbors are not the enemy; those who perpetuate the division are. o_O

    Agreed with both points.

I think if everyone stopped watching political talk shows we'd be better off. They all have an agenda, and some seem to want us to hate each other.

I have friends with different political views than me. We don't hate each other. We disagree, but respect each other. But, that doesn't get good ratings, I guess.

I believe that most people agree on most things. We should keep that in mind while we debate about the other stuff.

For me EV vs ICE is no more combative than ford vs Chevy. Thankfully those won't be our only choices

people also need to remember talk radio/podcast heads are entertainers, not journalists.

their primary objective is to bring in advertising revenue. not to educate the public.

They have thousands of unused leases already. Pausing it had zero impact and any suggestion otherwise is pure speculation so I really didn't have much to respond to.

And social media, yes I know we are using a form of it, but it’s not like others that feed you your one sided views.
it is a shame we didn’t pull together during this time, but the political heads decided that wasn’t going to happen, they still are in PRIME TIME NOW!!

Thanks for responding, but you didn’t talk about the attitude the administration presented. Which they still are. You didn’t talk about being forced to run a company that has no current growth as it’s been told it can not look get more resources.

And just look how Biden is responding to the “sensitive” Chevron person. Oh, and I guess it’s ok for this administration to also name call, but that’s a different conversation.

Those poor oil companies are seeing record profits while you try to blame politicians. They'll be fine. If current leases were being maxed out while new leases were being denied then you'd have a point.

At the end of the day, older generations are going to be less open minded and don't want to accept change. Fight it tooth and nail, but it's going to happen with or without you. Everyone can benefit for at least entertaining another perspective and looking at the whole picture.

I'm fine with change as long as there is a choice. What they are doing is forced. I'm 51 so I won't have to live with it too long. The millennials are screwed.

There is a choice man, lol. You don't have to drive an suv that gets bad gas mileage. Plenty of options, you just don't like them lol. And yes, millenials and gen x'ers will take it in the rear until electric really kicks in. Expecting gas to be be "affordable" for the long term is pretty out there.

Expecting EV to solve "global warming" for the long term is also pretty out there. I'm fine with EV when it can do everything gas vehicles can. Right now its a long way off. Or do the smart thing and make the transition hybrid. Thats also the right thing to do.

How isn't there a choice? I just bought a gas hog SUV that gets 15mpg and I can buy the same thing next year. Or I could have bought a 50mpg Prius. Or a hybrid Maverick. How much more choice do you want? What's being forced onto you?

Just like they forced me out of incandescent light bulbs then into CFL then LED now I'm paying $20 for four f****** light bulbs from Walmart. Same s*** with 4Runners. Gas then hybrid then a $70k base model electric 4runner...

I've had CFLs start melting in the socket. Not easy to get out when that starts happening because they get so incredibly hot.

However, incandescent bulbs are still widely available around here. At least for now. I usually buy a few years worth at a time. I'm okay with moving to LEDs if they can last as long as they're supposed to (which seems hit or miss).

CFL's were garbage. I say "were" because I assume nobody is using them anymore.

LED's are pretty damn good, though. Prices are getting better. And, even at $5 apiece, it's probably cheaper in the long run than a $1 incandescent that you'd have to replace every few years. Also, the energy savings is probably more than the cost of the bulb.

So, by that logic, a hybrid 4Runner might cost more up front, but the fuel savings will offset some of that cost.

Speaking of savings.... even if a bit off-topic. We installed a hybrid hot water heater 7 months ago. Since then, our electricity usage has dropped between 33 and 42% each month. With the federal rebate it was cheaper to install than a traditional electric hot water heater. Knowing what I know now, I would have installed it even without the rebate.

Just keep making the 4R more efficient and then gas prices matter less. I think Toyota is right to not jump into EV's.

That's gross. You should be able to get those bulbs for less than $40.
