If I don't cut back, I'll spend around $7-8K annually on fuel (at current prices).

Lately, I have been driving my ex's TC whenever practical, but that only helps so much.

Yeah but the flip side is you can go wherever you want when you want. You still have your independence and are not tied to the cord.

Oh, yeah. I'm still not interested in electric anytime soon. Maybe once infrastructure catches up, and more advancements are made.

I'm very interested in the upcoming hybrid 4Runner. I believe hybrid is the best of both worlds. I have a feeling the price tag will turn me off, though.

I'm with you! I'm reluctantly all in on EV when they cost the same. Charge in the same time I can pump gas. They have as many charging stations at gas stations. Toyota is right, hybrid's are the bridge to EV. Give me a 25-30mpg 4R and I don't care what gas costs.

The new Toyota BZ4X EV starts at $46k for the Limited. It looks like a snazzy RAV4. Seems kinda pricey for a car with 250 mile range.

If its top range is 250 is that approximately 1/2 that amount in winter or driving 75 plus?

Almost $49K for the Limited AWD. $44K for the base AWD. And a 50 hour charge time at 120V. 9.5 hours with a 240v charger, which most people will have to hire an electrician to install.

I can see the appeal if you work close to home, and don't drive much.

What about the millions of people that live in apartments are they going to run extension cords out of all of their windows to the parking lot

Don't forget about the many of us that live in an apartment. We have two charging stations already, but that they would have to have 500 in an apartment complex. Guess what that does to rent.

    Lol!

I guess newer apartment complexes will probably have to provide charging stations in the parking lots/garages. :notsure:

I guess I should have added "if you have a way to charge it at home."

Like I said above. I assume newer places will build in charging stations, and some older ones will probably add them.

But, yeah, obviously that cost will trickle down to the renters. I rent also, so I know where you're coming from.

I was just saying that I could see the appeal of an electric car if you don't drive much. I drive way too far, too often for an electric car to suit my needs.

Rent in Dallas has already gone up 25%. I can't keep up with the increases. Luckily my 4R is setup for long term camping and I could live in it if I had to.

I drive 50 miles to help my elderly parents once a week, but I plan on moving 1 mile from work in 6 months even though I only live 5 miles now. When my parents are gone, I won't drive 500 miles in a month except long trips. I guess I'm the perfect person for an EV, but I don't want to drive one.

I was averaging 500/week without driving it to work. Trails are ~200 miles away, and my Mom lives ~250 miles away and I try to visit every few weeks. I can take the TC to visit my Mom, but obviously not the trails. These prices are putting a squeeze on my rock and roll lifestyle.

Me being a soccer coach is not the dream job it used to be. COVID really rocked that. Gas prices are now rocking it even more because of all the things it affects. I'm lucky I'm single with no kids.

Who cares? This never shows everything anyway.
AC? I'd pay for that. Cruise control and power windows? I'd orgasm at the opportunity to not pay extra for them. I hardly use the cruise control in my 4Runner as is. I'm hardly ever on the highway. I admit the adaptive cruise of my 2020 is nice, but I'll probably never pay to fix it when it breaks.

EDIT: Actually, now that I think about it, I might just not pay for AC, too. I actually hardly use it anymore, even in the summer. I prefer to drive with the window down even if it's 100 degrees.
