Every once in an while, I run into a 4th or 5th gen owner, who disses 3rd gen 4runners, and they sorta roll their eyes at my baby....They act like the gen 3's, were totally stone age.

hardly. It's a well designed and built ride..and holds up well today....heck, the success of the gen 3 4 Runners, literally paved the way for those future gens...so the snobbery is unwarranted ........lol

I think the 3rd gens are gorgeous!

No envy here, but plenty of love!

I personally like the look of 2nd Gen over the 3rd Gen, but I obviously prefer the 3rd Gen's engine...

4th gen's are too fat in the ass for my taste.

    Forget the 5th gen. Boats.

They're jealous of our MPG, I know people who own them that can't get the same MPG as my 1997

I was getting close to that before I started adding a bunch of weight. :D

I actually got over 21 on a few highway trips.

If I could do it all over again I'd way get a manual 3rd gen. Hell still might.

~27% weight increase. Yeah, MPG is going to suffer.

Considering the extra weight and size, they really aren't too bad.

I was getting around 18 combined and over 20 on the highway in my '19 before I started adding stuff. I've actually gotten better highway mileage in my '19 than I ever did in my 2nd gen.

    That's debatable. ;)

I actually prefer driving a manual most of the time. But, most people prefer automatics. So, really it's just a matter of opinion.

It's good that you like it, though.
