Hitch receiver Install

Hi there... SR5s in Colombia do not have the hitch plate installed, i just bought the 6 bolts (Part #90119-12361) and the Hitch receiver (Part # 51909-35011) Wondering if any member can help with the following questions:

1) Do I need to remove the rear bumper to install the part?
2) What is the recommended torque to be applied to the bolts?

Anybody has installation instructions or pictures? I really appreciate it

I'm going to take a blind stab at this for you. Did you just purchase the hitch section that attaches to the stock crossmember? Or, are you bolting a true "bolt to the frame" hitch like most other trucks?

Likely if you are attaching the hitch receiver to the stock crossmember, I could see being able to do it without bumper removal. If going the non-stock way with a hitch that goes to the frame longitudinals, I would think the rear bumper fascia comes off.

Yep, easy as pie. That is the stock hitch plate that bolts straight to the rear cross member.

 

Great news, i was not sure if the upper bolts will require the bumber to be removed.

 

just keep in mind that's only a weight bearing hitch.

 

Work done. But just used 4 bolts. Effectively the upper bolts will require to remove the bumper.
Since I only need it for a bike carrier I believe the 4 bolts will suffice.

Does anyone know if there is some sort of frame or cover to avoid the naked look?

 

Trim the lower vanity plate section to hug the hitch protrusion and click it back in.

 

Toyota makes a trimmed cover.

 

^Best option obviously, but with a Columbia address, I was thinking more "work with what he had".
