Anyone know if it's possible to have the DRL and parking lights (side amber lights) on at the same time.

From what I tried, I can get either:
    - DRL only
    - Parking lights only
    - Low beam + Parking lights

but not DRL + Parking lights? Any easy mod allow that or did I miss something?

Mine is a 2019, but model year shouldn't make a difference. I can get DRL only. I can get DRL with parking lights only after releasing the parking brake after engine start. Even in DRL only, the DRL will not illuminate until after the parking brake is released.

everytime I checked I would turn the engine on but the parking break was on.
    Thanks!

One more question, are the parking lights only supposed to be used at night?

because when I turn them on, other lights dim such as the center clock or the dual climate display

Is there anyway to make these not dim when turning on the parking lights?

Yes. If you look on top of your dashboard up front towards the windshield, there is a button.

That button is a plastic cover that can be removed, and a sensor installed that auto dims your dash lights when it is dark enough assuming you have your parking lights on. I bought my sensor at the Toyota dealer, but it can be found on Amazon. (Not sure about the quality of the chinese knock offs...) Your truck should already be wired for the sensor - mine was attached to the plastic plug.

My understanding is it only works for some model years with the OR package. There's a good how to out there on the other site.

So it might not work on the PRO?

I’m not sure I understand correctly?

I believe mine already has the sensor. When my light switch is on the position “auto”, lights on the dashboard automatically dim and headlights turn on (when it’s dark) and stay bright during the day when DRL is on. In order to get DRL+parking lights I have to turn the light switch on position “parking lights” but the climate control and clock lights become very dim as if it was dark outside

Ah, now I understand. You do have the sensor installed. I misunderstood your previous question. I do not have an "auto" position. However, when I have parking lights on in daylight, the clock dims, but my other lighting in the dash stays bright (daylight mode).

Some states actually prohibit driving with your parking lights on. For some unknown reason.

For example, California’s current driving law plainly states, “No vehicle shall be driven at any time with the parking lamps lighted except when the lamps are being used as turn signal lamps or when the headlights are also lighted.”

Laws like these have been on the books for decades. It seems it was a common practice to light them when parked along a dark road so you don’t get rear-ended. Now with emergency flashers I don’t remember ever seeing a parked car with parking lights on. With all of the latest OEM headlight LED eyebrow embellishments and DRLs, and raptor-style lights, these laws are probably obsolete.

I did know it was against the law in California to drive with parking lights only, and didn't used to do so. Until I got my T4R with DRLs. They are not currently enforcing much anyway, so screw 'em. If they don't like it, maybe I will go shopping like some of these thugs do.
