I’ve been noticing some light oil residue mainly on the wire harness bracket that attaches to the top rear passenger side valve cover.

I’ve looked all over the surrounding area with a mirror and flashlight and see no evidence of a gasket failure. It’s really weird. There is a little oil residue on the valve cover around the bracket too.

I removed one of the 10 mm bracket bolts and the hole did not go through to the inside of the valve cover and the bolt threads were dry.

Next time you guys are under the hood, take a look and see how yours is.

@Slopemaster - how many miles on your T4R? I am only at 26k at the moment, but will look in that area on mine.

I will try to get a picture of my 2021 with 16k miles, but you will mostly just see red dirt stains…

Your secondary air circulation valve near to the right could be a suspect. Check around and under it for air leaks.

It’s bone dry around that area.

Finished the gear oil’s and took a closer look at the oil sweating issue.

It was the lower bracket bolt. Apparently when they machined the thread, it went through the valve cover. Top hole was ok.

I applied some red RTV around the bolt holes and around the bolt threads. Should be good now. I’ll keep an eye on it.

I think we're getting spoiled - doesn't seem like it was that long ago that if you didn't see oil residue you likely forgot to put oil in it. We've certainly come a long way from them days...

It’s been a week and I’ve driven quite a bit and it looks like I’ve fixed the oil sweating issue with the red high temp RTV. The area is dry.
