Thanks. Do you have pics of the boards? What is the spec on your 4runner?

Its a 2020 4Runner TRD Off Road Premium. You could post the question of compatibility.

A mean looking front bumper with lights and a winch should do the trick. Also meatier than factory tires such as AT or better yet MT.

Yes, I have added the PRO rims to the truck with tires that have an aggressive tread pattern. But the look of that bumper is EXACTLY the kind of look which I feel will create a greater presence on the road.

    About the bumper:

    1. Did you do the install yourself or was it installed for you.
    2. How does that bumper effect things like adaptive cruise control and other radar-dependent functions?

That's an overly broad statement that is largely untrue. It would benefit you to do some research and learn how it works. You'd be a lot more comfortable doing mods to your truck, I promise.

Those were just internet pictures. I have installed aftermarket bumpers on a 2011 Tundra as well as my 1984 4Runner, but neither had any radar dependent functions. The bumper install is basically turning wrenches and minor rewiring of turn signal lights, etc. If that scares you off, you might want to have a professional perform the install.

No clue who you are or how you know me and what my capabilities are, but if it concerns you; I have never had anyone else work on any of my vehicles for anything. Okay well you got me, except for alignments.

If you want OP to think he can add a lift kit and a super charger without voiding warranty, since that is what the previous comments were pertaining to, then that's on you.

Also, if you still can't read or see well, I said "will or can". "Can" meaning possibility. They would have to prove that the modification led to a failure.

Whatever helps you sleep at night, bud.

Slow down, sport. I never said I knew you or your capabilities. But your post said doing "pretty much anything aftermarket" can or will void a warranty. That is an irresponsible statement that ignores the law. I doubt you will bother to look into why I am saying this. You're a sensitive litter feller, aren't you?

I purchased Off Road models for added performance during the winter months of the NorthEast.

I may go on unpaved roads, but I'm not a true off-road driver.

You are incorrect. If the dealership thinks that the modification caused the problem, they can and will deny the claim, depending on the dealership. The "law", as you say, has nothing to do with it. I would love for you to reference the "law" that says a dealership/manufacturer must pay for a problem caused by an aftermarket accessory that changed the OEM design. Insulting people by calling them "sport" does nothing but make you look like a 12 year old.

True, but legally they must prove it was caused by the aftermarket parts/mods.

    In bold..

Legally, the dealership or manufacturer must prove that the aftermarket parts or modifications caused the issue.

However, they can be dicks and deny and fight you, knowing that their lawyers can probably just make you go away.

But, many of the mods discussed here aren't likely to lead to any issues. So, being concerned about warranties probably isn't even worth discussing.

    Cheers!

I went through this with Chevrolet a few years back on a Camaro. Once the dealership and GM had dug their heels in my options were limited. The aggravation and time spent on the whole issue was almost enough to shut me up and move along. But I have never been one to back down from a fight when I believed I was in the right.

Ended up contacting the States Attorney General for help. Two days after the dealer received a letter from the AG, I was contacted by the General Manager of the dealership and they had a whole new perspective on the issue. In the end it worked out, however, I would not want to waste my time going through something like that again.

    How was it wrong?

You are correct when you say that they don't have to warranty an issue caused by an aftermarket part or modification.

I was pointing out that legally they have to prove that the aftermarket part or modification caused the problem. The problem is that they can just deny you and force you to take them to court, at which point most people will give up.

I was also pointing out that most or the modifications discussed here aren't likely to cause any issues, so it's a moot point.

The best thing to do is research the modification (s) you're considering to find out if they're likely to cause any issues, and then decide if they're worth it.

Or just do what I did and do all the mods knowing the vehicle rarely hits the shop and when it does just pay the bill or just do it yourself and learn more about your vehicle. :notsure:

I think I voided any warranty I got on the 4Runner. Which fine by me since I found the 4Runner over the last 10 years (since my purchase) has been on the same platform and therefore likely to have most of the kinks worked out. Obviously there are a couple like the needle bearing but if that comes I will address that myself.

    Yes! Agreed!

I have heard of Toyota honoring the needle bearing TSB on lifted vehicles, probably because it's such a well known issue. But, a lot of folks are switching to the ECGS bushing anyway.

It's definitely good to know that there's a potential for voiding the warranty when modifying. It seems that most of us are comfortable with the risk, and choose our modifications accordingly.
