I have a 2019 4Runner TRD-Off Road. I have consulted YouTube and Mr Google and followed their instructions but I am still unable to rid myself of the media split screen. I know how to change from a 2 screen to a 3 screen (neither of which I want) and I know about unchecking the Home Screen in settings but the radio remains in a split screen. I can turn the screen off but I am not able to enable just a selected single screen. Is this a software glitch or am I just not figuring this out correctly? Thanks for any help you can render..

It’s somewhere in tools, display setup but I’d have to play with mine to talk you through it.

Don’t need the dealer. Once I figured out long ago how to turn the screen off, I haven’t touched my stereo since. If my runner didn’t have a stereo, I probably wouldn’t even miss it. ;)

I did figure out how to turn off screen but what I’m looking for is to view 1 selected full screen - my unit seems to default to split screen or 3 panel screen. Just does not want to display a single screen panel.

Every once in awhile my 2018 will display the 2 panel screen on start up. Not sure if there is a rhyme or reason for it. Or if I did anything different before turning the vehicle off prior.

Have you tried going to Menu –> Settings –> General, scrolling down to “Auto Change to Screen” and then toggling it off? I have a ‘22. Don’t know if yours is the same.

I have a '19 ORP and I just tap the part I want and it goes to full screen. Does this not work for you?

I had fits trying to figure out how to fix the map when it goes to split screen occasionally. I still have no Idea why it happens. This one requires going into settings.

My 2015 Tacoma would let me get rid of the NAV splitscreen while on the freeway. I could care less which exit is up next. However, on my 19 4Runner, there is no option to turn off the NAV splitscreen while on the freeway. Very irritating to me.

I think you got it. Hitting the “Home” button will bring up a 2 or 3 panel screen of which you can select what is displayed in each. (By hitting the “gear” in the top right corner and customizing the Home Screen). That’s the screen you default to upon start up if “Auto Change to Home Screen” is selected. So deselect it.
I keep mine on Audio most of the time and that’s what comes up for me at start up.

I have had this pop up in mine also, and gotten rid of it. It's in settings. I couldn't stand all of the useless information cluttering up the screen.

Yes the “Auto change to Home Screen is de-selected and yes I can tap the screen and it will go to full screen for the panel I tapped but only temporarily - it soon returns to split screen which is annoying for me.

That sounds like an issue to me. Mine stays on full screen at least until I restart the 4Runner.

How long does it stay on full screen before it changes back?

Which screen do you want to be displayed? Audio, Navigation?

Well, if I’m on a trip I would prefer to see a full navigation screen (all the time) that would be the most important for me.

I can’t get mine to full screen on my home; but if I put it to navigation it will stay in full screen.

I seem to have some luck with toggling the audio and/or map buttons depending upon what I want to see. Also tapping the split screen works.

That is annoying. Have you tried resetting the system? (Press and hold the Power/Volume button for 3 seconds.)

Didn’t know about that. What are the consequences? I know a phone reset pretty much wipes out everything.

So, is the problem that it is going to the split navigation / audio screen? Or, is it the navigation screen with all the useless information on the side?

Mine somehow ends up in that setting from time to time and you can go into settings and fix it. But, if you're fixing it and then it just pops back to the screen you don't want there's probably something wrong with your unit

Yeah it just wants to stay in split screen mode or I can select “3 panel” and it will stay in 3 panel mode - just refuses to stay in single panel mode for more that a few seconds.

Pressing the Home button will always yield a split screen, 2 or 3.
Try pressing Apps, then Navigation. See if the Nav screen stays up as a single screen. And see if it comes up that way after an engine off/engine on cycle.

BTW, the power/reset button just does a re-boot, not an actual reset of anything.

For all who replied goes a big thank you but the Captain Spaulding got the solution - a simple radio reset did the trick. Thank you Captain Spalding!!

Good to hear! I was thinking it seemed like a problem with the radio. I didn't know we could reset them like that. Good information!

The “Rest of the Story” though is that every time the key is cycled it reverts back to the two-panel display. Holding the radio knob down for several seconds resets the radio where once again I can get a full nav screen - till the key is cycled. Gotta be a glitch in the radio somewhere..

I tried that with my 2018 ORP radio today. Driving around I had it in one-screen navigation mode. Turned off the engine, then when I turned it on again the screen reverted back to 3 panels.

Maybe that’s just the way it works. Although the radio firmware is at the OEM revision, I never bothered to update it since I really only use the Entune for AM/FM radio and Sirius XM functions. Everything else I do with my iPhone. So maybe the latest revision corrects that.

Good thought. When/if it gets to bothering me too much I’ll look into a firmware update which I have no idea how to do but I’m sure Mr Youtube can guide me through it when the time comes. ;)

I just checked mine. I can set it to single screen and it will stay that way until I shut off and the turn on again, at which time it reverts the the three panel home view. Mine’s a ‘22 so I don’t think a firmware update will help.

Mine is exactly the same HOWEVER I found that since resetting the radio even though it defaults back to 2/3 panel you can just tap the map and it will go back to full screen and stay there now until key is cycled - so that’s much better now than before the reset. Thanks again for the great idea!

Glad I could help. Being one of those folks with a months-long wait to get my vehicle, I had downloaded the manuals and had plenty of tome to study them.
